Curtis Memorial Park 40th Birthday Celebration
Saturday, June 20, 1 – 4 p.m.
Curtis Park Pool, 58 Jessie Curtis Lane, Hartwood
The 1970s-themed party will feature disco music, kids’ activities, and lots of opportunities to take a dip in the park’s Olympic-sized swimming pool and zero depth entry wading or tot pool. The first 100 guests will receive a free hot dog and birthday cake will be served. There will also be plenty of pool games, arts and crafts, a shark-themed moon bounce, and a visit by Jaws the Shark, in honor of the 1975 movie.
$1.75 adults, 75 cents children

Annual Trashy Ribs & Brews Festival
Saturday, June 20, 5 – 11 p.m.
Downtown Orange, Virginia.
Think thick, juicy, dripping ribs, coleslaw, beans, rolls and cold, oh-so-cold, beverages.

Shakespeare on the Lawn at Historic Kenmore Plantation
Saturday, June 20, and Sunday, June 21, 7 p.m.
Historic Kenmore Plantation, 1201 Washington Ave., Fredericksburg
The Fredericksburg Players present King Lear, one of Shakespeare’s most heart-breaking tragedies.
Arrive early to tour the mansion (5:45 p.m. to 6:45 p.m.) and view the refurnishing project in progress. Bring folding chairs or a blanket, and a picnic.
Admission: $10 adults, $5 students
