We can hope the weather predictions for rain Friday into Saturday are wrong, so we can enjoy Independence Day 2015 no matter what our plans.

The Fredericksburg Community Concert Band is performing from 7 to 9 p.m. in historic Market Square as part of the Sounds of Summer Concert Series and First Friday Fredericksburg.

Lorton Workhouse Arts Center celebrates Independence Day on Friday, July 3, with a 7 p.m. concert featuring The Sixth Generation. more than 25 food trucks, and fireworks at about 9 p.m. The concert and fireworks are free; parking is $10.

RVA Fireworks on the James features Virginia’s largest fireworks show, according to organizers. The free event is held on Brown’s Island in downtown Richmond — at the “bottom” of 12th Street, on the James River. The park opens at 6 p.m. Fireworks begin at about 9:15 p.m.

Fredericksburg, Stafford and Spotsylvania
The Heritage Festival in Downtown Fredericksburg begins at 6:30 a.m.
“Let Freedom Ring” at Ferry Farm, George Washington’s Boyhood home, is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Old Town Manassas
“Celebrate America” from 4 – 10 p.m.
Fireworks begin at dark.

G. Richard Pfitzner Stadium — Home of the Potomac Nationals
Celebrate with a baseball game and a post-game fireworks show.
Food, Fireworks & Fun: A $16 add-on to any ticket includes an all-you-can-eat pregame picnic from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Signal Hill Park in Manassas
Bring a blanket and picnic basket to enjoy the fireworks display, which begins at about 9:15 p.m. The gates open at 5:30 p.m. A free shuttle bus is available from the VRE station and city hall. Signal Hill Park

Events begin at 4 p.m. Fireworks at 9:15 p.m.

Fairfax City
The annual Fairfax City Independence Day Parade begins at 10 a.m.

Fireworks are at Fairfax High School at 9:30 p.m.
