The Fredericksburg Community Concert Band is performing from 7 to 9 p.m. in historic Market Square as part of the Sounds of Summer Concert Series and First Friday Fredericksburg.
Lorton Workhouse Arts Center celebrates Independence Day on Friday, July 3, with a 7 p.m. concert featuring The Sixth Generation. more than 25 food trucks, and fireworks at about 9 p.m. The concert and fireworks are free; parking is $10.
RVA Fireworks on the James features Virginia’s largest fireworks show, according to organizers. The free event is held on Brown’s Island in downtown Richmond — at the “bottom” of 12th Street, on the James River. The park opens at 6 p.m. Fireworks begin at about 9:15 p.m.

The Heritage Festival in Downtown Fredericksburg begins at 6:30 a.m.
“Let Freedom Ring” at Ferry Farm, George Washington’s Boyhood home, is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
