New Shop Fulfilling a Dream

Update July 2015: Lord & Lilly’s has moved to 611 Caroline St. in downtown Fredericksburg,

Sandy Cook is fulfilling a dream.  The Spotsylvania resident loves decorating and collecting, and has always wanted to have her own shop. She’s opened Lord & Lilly’s and Sandy’s Frugals & Frillys at 900 Caroline St. in downtown Fredericksburg.  (Lord & Lilly’s for short.)

Cook’s focus is Christian decorating and collectibles. “I have a little bit of everything,” she said.  The store inventory includes figurines, jewelry, candles, wall decor and greeting cards.  “I want to see what people want and develop my shop from there,” she said.

The back of Lord & Lilly’s is dedicated to scrap booking, card making and stamping.  Cook will soon offer classes, taught by her and teachers she brings in for special classes.  In addition, she will offer space and supplies for stop-in creating.  “If you set out all the tools and supplies at home, scrap booking can take up your entire house,” she said.  “I’ll leave my tools out so people can stop in and work.”

Lord & Lilly’s is named for Cook’s faith in the Lord and her beloved Yorkshire Terrier, Lilly.  The sweet dog greets guests when they enter the shop.  “People now come in with their own dogs to visit Lilly and me,” Cook said.  She’s planning a grand opening celebration to coincide with Lilly’s birthday on September 29.

Cook said she appreciates the welcome she’s received from other downtown business owners.  “People here are friendly, and that’s where I want to be,” she said.

Lord & Lilly’s is open 10 a.m. – 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Cook is compiling a list of those interested in scrap booking, stamping and card making classes.  You may email her at [email protected] or call the store at 540-371-1333.
