Virginia Department of Transportation Hot Spots for the Fredericksburg Region August 30 – September 5, 2015.

City of Fredericksburg
Interstate 95 at Fall Hill Avenue
(Update) On Monday-Tuesday evenings crews will continue placing beams for the new Fall Hill Avenue bridge over I-95, with additional lane closures required on Wednesday-Thursday nights. The work zone will impact traffic on I-95 northbound and southbound at mile markers 131-132, just south of the Rappahannock River bridges. Motorists are encouraged to use Route 1 to avoid delays.
Monday, Aug. 31
· I-95 Northbound – A single lane will close at 9:30 p.m. Two lanes close at 10 p.m. Between midnight and 3 a.m. all interstate traffic will be stopped four times for approximately 15 minutes during each stop. Crews will be lifting concrete beams over the interstate. Two lanes will be closed between 3-5 a.m.
Tuesday, Sept. 1
· I-95 Southbound – A single lane will close at 9:30 p.m. Two lanes close at 10 p.m. Between midnight and 3 a.m. all interstate traffic will be stopped four times for approximately 15 minutes during each stop. · I-95 Southbound – A single lane will close at 9:30 p.m. Two lanes closed 10 p.m. − 5 a.m.

Under Construction: Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement Project
Construction is underway on the Fall Hill Avenue widening and I-95 overpass replacement project. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Fall Hill Avenue between the Rappahannock Canal bridge and Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park). The project is expected to be complete in January 2017.

Stafford County
Interstate 95 North
(Update) Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. Crews continue paving I-95 northbound between Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) and Exit 140 (Rt. 630/Stafford). One lane will be closed in the work zone at 9 p.m and two lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.

Route 17 Widening Project
(New) Motorists should be alert to a new traffic pattern on Route 17 at three locations within the Route 17 widening project limits. The following traffic shifts will take place this week. Motorists will be restricted to one lane between 8 p.m. – 5:30 a.m. at each location:
Sunday: A traffic shift will take place on Route 17 southbound between Banks Ford Parkway and McLane Drive.
Monday: A traffic shift will take place on Route 17 southbound between Stafford Lakes Parkway and Banks Ford Parkway.
Monday: A traffic shift will take place on Route 17 northbound in the vicinity of Berea Church Road and GEICO.

Route 17 Business at Falmouth Intersection
(Update) On Sunday, one lane will be closed on northbound and southbound Route 17 Business from 9 p.m. – 6 a.m. Crews will be working in the median. This work is in connection with the Falmouth intersection improvement project.

Northbound Route 17 at I-95
(New) Wednesday, 10 p.m. – 5 a.m. Crews will be inspecting the I-95 bridges over Route 17. Two lanes will be closed to traffic on northbound Route 17 at the I-95 interchange. The interchange and all ramps remain open.

Route 1 Northbound at Falmouth
(New) Tuesday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m.; One lane of Route 1 northbound will be closed at the northern end of the Falmouth Bridge and Carter Street. Motorists should be prepared for intermittent 15-minute traffic stops on Route 1 in the work zone. Crews are removing trees in this area. This work is in connection with the Falmouth intersection improvement project.

Traffic Signal Structure Inspections
(New) Monday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Crews will be inspecting traffic signals and traffic signal structures in a mobile work zone on Route 610, Route 627, Route 630, Route 648, Route 659 and Route 810. Brief, alternating single lane closures will be in place.

Sanford Drive
(New) Tuesday-Friday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stafford County utility work. Mobile single lane closures will be in place, and motorists should follow directions from a flagging crew.

Routine Maintenance Activities
(New) Monday – Friday, 6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) − mowing
Route 3 (Kings Highway) – mowing
Route 17 (Warrenton Road) – mowing
Route 607 (Deacon Road) − mowing
Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) – mowing
Route 612 (Tacketts Mill Road) − mowing
Route 630 (Courthouse Road) – mowing
Route 627 (Mountain View Road) – mowing
Route 610 (Rock Hill Church Road) − mowing
Route 608 (Brooke Road) − drainage work
Route 1001 (Washington Street) – drainage work

Under Construction: Route 17
Construction is underway to widen Route 17 from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The work zone extends from just south of the I-95 interchange to Cardinal Forest Drive. Motorists should be alert to changes in traffic pattern and periodic overnight lane closures. Project completion date is December 2016.

Falmouth Intersection (Route 1/Route 17 Business/Route 218)
Construction is underway. Motorists should be prepared for brief delays and periodic lane closures on Butler Road and Route 1 just north and south of the Falmouth intersection. Project completion date is September 2015.

Spotsylvania County
Interstate 95 South
(New) Monday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Crews will be milling and paving I-95 southbound between Exit 126 (Route 1/Spotsylvania) and Exit 118 (Rt. 606/Thornburg). One lane will close in the work zone at 9 p.m. Two lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.

Interstate 95 North
(New) Wednesday, 9 p.m. – 5 p.m. One lane will be closed on I-95 northbound from 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. at mile marker 126. Crews will be inspecting the I-95 bridge over Route 1 at Exit 126 (Route 1/Spotsylvania).

Interstate 95 North and South
(New) Tuesday-Wednesday, 9 a.m. − 3:30 p.m. Bridge inspection between mile markers 117-119, near I-95 Exit 118/Thornburg. A single southbound lane will be closed from 9 a.m. to noon both days. A single northbound lane will be closed from noon to 3:30 p.m. both days.

Route 208 Business
(Update) Sunday-Thursday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. Motorists will be restricted to one lane on Route 208 between Brock Road and the Route 208 Bypass. Crews will be milling and paving in this area.

Line Painting Operation
Crews will continue line painting on various secondary routes in the vicinity of Route 2, Route 3, Route 208, and Route 612.When approaching this mobile work zone motorists should be alert to slow moving vehicles, expect delays, and avoid passing. Passing in the work zone may cause tracking of the freshly painted lines, and the wet paint may adhere to a vehicle. Crews will be working Monday − Friday during daylight hours.

(New) Monday – Friday, 6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
Route 3 (Plank Road) – mowing
Route 208 (Courthouse Road) – mowing

Caroline County
Line Painting Operation
Crews will be line painting on various secondary routes in Caroline County. When approaching this mobile work zone motorists should be alert to slow moving vehicles, expect delays, and avoid passing. Passing in the work zone may cause tracking of the freshly painted lines, and the wet paint may adhere to a vehicle. Crews will be working Monday − Friday during daylight hours.

(New) Monday – Friday, 6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
Route 301 – pothole repair
Route 30 (King William Road) – pothole repair
Route 603 (Landora Bridge) – mowing
Route 604 (Gatewood Road) – mowing
Route 738 (Partlow Road) – mowing
Route 741 (Faulkner Road) – mowing

Under Construction: Route 17/Benchmark Road/Crossroads Parkway
Motorists should expect lane closures and brief traffic stops on Route 17 at Benchmark Road and Crossroads Parkway, located just east of the CSX railroad tracks and west of Jim Morris Road. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone. This work is related to construction of a new Virginia Railway Express train station and parking lot. This project is being administered by Spotsylvania County.

King George County
Routine Maintenance Activities
(New) Monday – Friday, 6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
Route 629 (Round Hill Road) − ditching
Route 205 (Ridge Road) − ditching
Route 631 (Milbank Road) − ditching
Route 611 (Hanover Church Road) − ditching
Route 611 (Eden Road) – brush cutting
Route 696 (Fairview Drive) – brush cutting
Route 218 (Calendon Road) – brush cutting
Route 627 (Wilmont Road) – brush cutting

Westmoreland County
Routine Maintenance Activities
(New) Monday – Friday, 6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
