Hugh Mercer Elementary Welcomes 11 New Staff

Hugh Mercer Elementary School is welcoming 11 new staff members for the 2015-16 school year. As reported in the school’s newsletter they are:

Kristina Brophy begins her teaching career by joining the second grade team. Ms. Brophy has a B.S. from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. She is a former site director, paraprofessional, and substitute teacher in New Jersey.

Victoria Coe begins her teaching career by joining the first grade team. Ms. Coe has a B.S. from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania. Formerly, she was a paraprofessional in New Jersey.

Taylor Edwards begins her teaching career by joining the second grade team. Ms. Edwards has a B.A. from Randolph-Macon College. Formerly, she was a teacher’s assistant in Ashland, Va.

Victoria Ellis continues her teaching career as math intervention specialist. Ms. Ellis has a B.S. and a B.A. from University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She formerly taught kindergarten, first, and third grades in California and Stafford County, Va..

Tremellia Lavallier begins her teaching career by joining the kindergarten team. Ms. Lavallier has a B.A. from Saint Leo University and is a former child care academy director, family case manager, and substitute teacher in Indiana and Virginia.

Amanda Padgett continues her teaching career by joining the kindergarten team. Ms. Padgett has a B.S. from Virginia Commonwealth University and a M.Ed. from Grand Canyon University, Phoenix, Az. Prior to joining the Hugh Mercer team, Ms. Padgett was a teacher at Fredericksburg Head Start.

Laura Thomson continues her teaching career by joining the second grade team. Mrs. Thomson has a B.A. and Master of Education from Mary Washington College and University of Mary Washington, respectively. She also has a M.A. from Northwestern University, Ill.. Mrs. Thomson formerly taught third grade at Lafayette Upper Elementary School.

Megan Waite continues her teaching career by joining the second grade team. Ms. Waite has a B.S. from Radford University and Master of Education from George Mason University. Formerly, she taught K-6 special education students in Arlington, Va.

Eryn Wiley begins her teaching career by joining the second grade team. Ms. Wiley has a B.A. and a M.A. from Sweet Briar College. Ms. Wiley is a former substitute teacher at Holy Cross Academy.

Instructional paraprofessional Shannon Berna and custodian Dontae Atkins have also joined the Hugh Mercer team.
