Stafford County and Verizon Wireless will hold a community meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2015, to review a proposed wireless telecommunications tower at the Stafford County Landfill. The meeting will be held at Rowser Community Center, 1739 Jefferson Davis Hwy., Stafford.

Verizon Wireless and Milestone Communications have filed an application for a wireless telecommunications facility at the Stafford County Landfill, 489 Eskimo Hill Rd., in order to fill a gap they’ve identified in the area’s wireless coverage and service, Verizon reported.

The proposal is for a 190′ self-support tower at the location, which was selected in consultation with Stafford County. The pole will be located on the east side of the landfill. The facility requires ground equipment to operate. The equipment will be located in a fenced and locked compound (50′ x 55′).
