Traffic Hot Spots for the Fredericksburg Region September 27 – October 3, 2015.

Fredericksburg
Under Construction: Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement Project
Construction is underway on the Fall Hill Avenue widening and I-95 overpass replacement project. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Fall Hill Avenue between the Rappahannock Canal bridge and Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park). The project is expected to be complete in January 2017.

Stafford County
Interstate 95 Northbound
Sunday − Thursday, 9 p.m. – 4:30 a.m. Crews continue paving I-95 northbound between Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) and Exit 140 (Rt. 630/Stafford). One lane will be closed in the work zone at 9 p.m. and two lanes will be closed from 10 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.

Falmouth Intersection (Route 1, Route 17 Business, and Route 218 (Butler Road)
(Update) Monday and Tuesday, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Virginia State Police will direct traffic at the intersection during these overnight hours. Single lane closures will be in place. Final construction activities will be underway for the project’s substantial completion on Wednesday, Sept. 30. Motorists should expect brief delays, and stay alert for direction from law enforcement.

Route 1 at Truslow Road
(New) Monday and Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 2 p.m.; Motorists will be restricted to one lane on the southbound side of Route 1 at Truslow Road. Crews will be removing and replacing the sidewalk and curb and gutter in this area.

Route 218 (White Oak Road)
(New) Sunday – Friday, 5 p.m. – 6 a.m.; Motorists will be restricted to one lane on Route 218 eastbound and westbound between Route 603 (Cassion Road) and 606 (Ferry Road) for milling, paving and trench work.

Route 208 (Courthouse Road)
(New) Wednesday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Crews will be placing shoulder stone at various locations on Courthouse Road. Motorists should expect brief delays in the work zone.

Route 648 (Stefaniga Road)
(New) Monday and Tuesday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.; Crews will be placing shoulder stone at various locations on Route 648. Motorists should expect brief delays in the work zone.

Route 656 (Greenbank Road)
(Update) Tuesday and Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.; Motorists should expect brief delays on Greenbank Road between Banks Ford Parkway and the dead end. Crews will be repairing the pavement in this area.

Routine Maintenance Activities
(Update) Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) – shoulder work
Route 17 (Warrenton Road) – brush cutting
Route 604 (Belle Plains Road) – brush cutting
Route 752 (Hartwood Road) – mowing
Route 607 (Deacon Road) – mowing
Route 611 (Hope Road) – mowing
Route 1001 (Washington Street) – slope maintenance
Route 633 (Arkendale Drive) – patching
Route 1098 (Cherry Laurel Drive) – concrete work
Route 1097 (Willow Branch Place) – pipe replacement

Under Construction: Route 17
Construction is underway to widen Route 17 from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The work zone extends from just south of the I-95 interchange to Cardinal Forest Drive. Motorists should be alert to changes in traffic pattern and periodic overnight lane closures. Project completion date is December 2016.

Falmouth Intersection (Route 1/Route 17 Business/Route 218)
Construction is underway. Motorists should be prepared for brief delays and periodic lane closures on Butler Road and Route 1 just north and south of the Falmouth intersection. Project completion date is September 2015.

Spotsylvania County
Interstate 95 Southbound
Sunday– Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Crews will be milling and paving I-95 southbound between Exit 126 (Route 1/Spotsylvania) and Exit 118 (Rt. 606/Thornburg). One lane closes at 9 p.m. Two lanes will be closed 10 p.m. – 5 a.m.

(Update) Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
Route 208 (Lake Anna Parkway) – mowing
Route 601 (Lewiston Road) – mowing
Route 659 (Lanes Corner) – mowing
Route 627 (Gordon Road) – brush cutting
Route 620 (Harrison Road) – brush cutting
Route 618 (River Road) – brush cutting
Route 721 (Grand Brooks Road) – machining
Route 724 (Wigglesworth Road) – machining
Route 726 (Ryland Payne Road) – machining
Route 612 (Stubbs Bridge Road) – shoulder work
Route 601 (Lawyers Road) – shoulder work
Route 608 (Robert E. Lee Drive) – tree trimming
Route 1188 (Stoney Creek Drive) – shoulder work
Whales Drive – patching

Under Construction: Route 17/Benchmark Road/Crossroads Parkway
Motorists should expect lane closures and brief traffic stops on Route 17 at Benchmark Road and Crossroads Parkway, located just east of the CSX railroad tracks and west of Jim Morris Road. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone. This work is related to construction of a new Virginia Railway Express train station and parking lot. This project is being administered by Spotsylvania County.

Caroline County
Interstate 95
(New) Monday − Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m.; One lane will be closed on the northbound and southbound side of I-95 at mile marker 103 located just south of Exit 104 (Route 207/Carmel Church). Crews will be taking core samples on the bridge over the CSX railroad.
