Meow & Woof Fest, a celebration of cats and dogs, is bringing a who’s who of pet celebrities to Fredericksburg on Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015, to benefit the cat rescue group Meow Stories. The event will be held 2 – 9 p.m. at OddBox Studios / Fred FOTO Arts, 526-1 Wolfe St.

“Everyone who has shared the love and joy of a dog or cat knows the special bond that joins us,” said event organizer Bob Walker, owner of Fred Foto Arts. “Together we can save lives and find loving homes for Fredericksburg’s homeless cats and dogs.”

The day’s events include book signings, a feline fashion show, a pet first aid demonstration, a photo exhibit, funny cat and dog videos, and live music.

2:30 p.m. Book Signings
Walker, writer and photographer of “The Cats’ House, Cats into Everything,” will be joined by:
Kate Benjamin, author of “Catification”
Ingrid King, “The Conscious Cat”
Arden Moore, “Fit Cat” and “Fit Dog”
Wendy Reidler, “Who Lives Under Cottage #5”
Robin Schwartz, “Amelia & the Animals”
Teri Thorsteinson, “The Adventures of Coco le Chat”

3:30 p.m. “Mewsic for a Barktoberfest”
Memories Ensemble of the Fredericksburg Community Concert Band will be performing “Mewsic for a Barktoberfest” — cat and dog songs!

4:30 p.m. Haute-CATure Fabulous Felines on the Cat Walk
Coco, the Couture Cat and her feline friends will present the latest designs on the runway.

5:30 p.m. Pet First Aid 4U Demonstration
Arden Moore, host of “Oh Behave” on Pet Life Radio and nationally recognized Certified Master Pet First Aid/CPR Instructor and cat and dog behavior expert, will teach pet parents what to do — and what NOT to do — in a pet emergency when minutes count.

6:30 p.m. Mayoral Proclamation
Fredericksburg Mayor Mary Katherine Greenlaw will be on hand to proclaim “Homeless Cat and Dog Adoption Day.”

Share Your Cat and Dog Videos
Submit your festival appropriate dog and cat videos for a collection showing throughout the day. Email videos to [email protected]. The top video wins a set of three books featured at the fest. “It makes for a great opportunity to laugh out loud together,” Walker said.

Local Bands, Live Music
Live music throughout the day will be provided by Cool Breeze, Swamp Trash Band, Harry Wilson Quintet, and Memories Ensemble of the Fredericksburg Community Concert Band.

Admission is free. A portion of book sales and all donations will benefit Meow Stories.
