Belvedere Plantation Fall Festival
Weekends through October 31, 2015.
Fridays, 5 – 10 p.m.
Saturdays, 10 a.m. – 10 p.m. (Closes at 5 p.m. on October 31)
Sundays, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Belvedere Plantation, 1410 Belvedere Dr., Fredericksburg
Pumpkin picking, bonfires, evening hayrides, cornfield maze — more than 25 attractions and activities. The Pumpkin Patch is lighted for night picking Friday and Saturday nights.

Braehead Farm Fall Festival Weekends
9 a.m. – 6 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday in October
Braehead Farm, 1130 Tyler St., Fredericksburg
Hayrides, corn maze, sunflower walk, pumpkin decorating, farm animals and more. Visit The Great Pumpkin from 10 – 1 and 2 – 5.
Admission $9. Age 2 and under are free.

UMW’s Fredericksburg Ghost Walk 2015
Friday, Oct. 23, 6 – 10 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 24, 5 – 10 p.m.
Tours leave every ten minutes from the James Monroe Museum and Memorial Library, 908 Charles St.
The University of Mary Washington Historic Preservation Club’s annual Ghost Walk is a haunted tour of downtown Fredericksburg.
Tickets are sold at the James Monroe Museum. Walk-ins and reservations are both accepted.
Tickets: $6 for the general public
$4 for students, military, and alumni of the University of Mary Washington
Free for children under 4

Spooky Stories by the Shore
Friday, Oct. 23, 7 p.m. – 8 p.m.
Trail opens at 6:40 p.m.
Motts Run Reservoir, 6600 River Rd., Fredericksburg
Follow a lantern-lit trail to the water’s edge to enjoy hot chocolate, marshmallow roasting, and spooky stories. Bring a blanket and a flashlight. Amphitheatre seating is available.
Pre-registration required at $6 a person.

45th Annual Graves Mountain Apple Harvest Festival
10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, and Sunday, Oct. 25
Graves Mountain Lodge, 205 Graves Mountain Lane, Syria, Va. 22743
Enjoy fun-filled days complete with Graves famous food, live Bluegrass Music, cloggers, arts, crafts, hay maze, hay mountain, hayrides, horseback rides, apple picking and more.
Free admission and free parking.

History Comes Alive on Marye’s Heights
Saturday, Oct. 24, and Sunday, Oct. 25, 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
Marye’s Heights, Fredericksburg Battlefield Visitor Center, 1013 Lafayette Blvd., Fredericksburg
Reenactors will be on site to teach visitors about the lives of Civil War soldiers. There will be musket-firing demonstrations and marching drills.
Free.

Monticello Archaeology Open House
Saturday, Oct. 24, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
David M. Rubenstein Visitor Center at Monticello, 931 Thomas Jefferson Pkwy., Charlottesville
In honor of Virginia Archaeology Month, Monticello’s Archaeology Department is hosting an open house highlighting recent discoveries. Walking tours will be given at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.
Free. Reservations required for the interactive dig.

8th Annual Capital Alehouse Oktoberfest
Saturday, Oct. 24, 11:30 a.m. – 10 p.m. (Rescheduled from October 3, 2015, due to the weather.)
Capital Alehouse, 917 Caroline St., and the 800 and 900 blocks of Caroline Street in downtown Fredericksburg
Enjoy live music, German dancing, traditional cuisine and more than 100 craft and imported brews. There is also a child-specific entertainment area, with inflatables, face painting and balloon animals. Table reservations are available for an extra charge.
$3 cover charge benefits Fredericksburg Virginia Main Street.

Scarytown Zombie Walk & Trick or Treating
Saturday, Oct. 24, 12 – 3 p.m.
Careytown, 3126 W Cary St, Richmond
Zombies walk to benefit the American Heart Association, kids make fall crafts at BBGB, trick or treating is welcome in all stores with the pumpkin sign in their windows and Dogma is having a pet costume contest.

Family Films in Hurkamp Park
Saturday, Oct. 24, 6:30 p.m.
Hurkamp Park, William Street and Prince Edward Street in downtown Fredericksburg.
Outdoor showings of “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown!,” at 6:30 p.m. followed by “Frankenstein” at 7:30 p.m. Bring chairs and blankets.

disAbility Resource Center’s Halloween Bash
Saturday, Oct. 24, 7 p.m. – 11 p.m.
A. Smith Bowman Distillery, 1 Bowman Dr., Fredericksburg
Wear your costume and vie for a prize in the costume contest. Enjoy dancing, hors d’oeuvres, drinks, Bowman Spirit tasting, and an auction.
$50 per ticket to benefit dRC.

Haunted Trail at Wilderness Resort
Saturday, Oct. 24, and Friday, Oct. 30. Ticket sales begin at 7 p.m. at the reservations building. Tickets are limited. The event begins at 8 p.m.
Wilderness Presidential Resort, 9220 Plank Road, Spotsylvania
Ride the hay wagon to the field of terrors, then make your way back on foot.
The Haunted Trail is recommended for ages 10 and up.
$15 per person

Julius Melchers: Detroit’s Master Sculptor
Sunday, Oct. 25, 2 p.m.
Gari Melchers Home and Studio at Belmont, 224 Washington St., Falmouth
A talk on Julius Melchers, the father of Gari Melchers, known for his cigar store Indians, will be led by Ralph Sessions. Julius’s carvings were a significant piece of the artistic culture of the 19th century, crafted in his workshop in Detroit. Pieces of Julius’s work will be on display.
Free.
