Braehead Farm Fall Festival Weekends
9 a.m. – 6 p.m. every Saturday and Sunday in October
Braehead Farm, 1130 Tyler St., Fredericksburg
Hayrides, corn maze, sunflower walk, pumpkin decorating, farm animals and more. Visit The Great Pumpkin from 10 – 1 and 2 – 5.
Admission $9. Age 2 and under are free.
UMW’s Fredericksburg Ghost Walk 2015

Tours leave every ten minutes from the James Monroe Museum and Memorial Library, 908 Charles St.
The University of Mary Washington Historic Preservation Club’s annual Ghost Walk is a haunted tour of downtown Fredericksburg.
Tickets are sold at the James Monroe Museum. Walk-ins and reservations are both accepted.
Tickets: $6 for the general public
$4 for students, military, and alumni of the University of Mary Washington

Spooky Stories by the Shore

Follow a lantern-lit trail to the water’s edge to enjoy hot chocolate, marshmallow roasting, and spooky stories. Bring a blanket and a flashlight. Amphitheatre seating is available.

45th Annual Graves Mountain Apple Harvest Festival
10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, and Sunday, Oct. 25

History Comes Alive on Marye’s Heights
Saturday, Oct. 24, and Sunday, Oct. 25, 10 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

Reenactors will be on site to teach visitors about the lives of Civil War soldiers. There will be musket-firing demonstrations and marching drills.

Monticello Archaeology Open House

In honor of Virginia Archaeology Month, Monticello’s Archaeology Department is hosting an open house highlighting recent discoveries. Walking tours will be given at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.

8th Annual Capital Alehouse Oktoberfest

Julius Melchers: Detroit’s Master Sculptor
Sunday, Oct. 25, 2 p.m.
Gari Melchers Home and Studio at Belmont, 224 Washington St., Falmouth
A talk on Julius Melchers, the father of Gari Melchers, known for his cigar store Indians, will be led by Ralph Sessions. Julius’s carvings were a significant piece of the artistic culture of the 19th century, crafted in his workshop in Detroit. Pieces of Julius’s work will be on display.
