Great SouthEast ShakeOut October 15

by | Nov 4, 2015 | News

The annual Great SouthEast ShakeOut is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015. The drill in Virginia, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Maryland and Washington, D.C. is set to help people plan what to do in the event of an earthquake.

The University of Mary Washington will participate by testing its Area Warning System and sending a text alert to the UMW community.

Consider where you are and what you should do if an earthquake occurred. Remember Drop, Cover, Hold On.

– DROP to the ground (before the earthquake drops you)

– Take COVER by getting under a sturdy desk or table and

– HOLD ON to it until the shaking stops
