The University of Mary Washington is welcoming the largest freshman class in its 107-year history. The 1001 new students represent 30 states, the District of Columbia and nine foreign countries, according to Kimberley Buster-Williams, associate provost for enrollment management.

Students begin moving in on Thursday Aug. 20, 2015. Classes begin Monday, Aug. 24.

UMW has a total enrollment of more than 5,000. The public liberal arts and sciences university features colleges of business, education and arts and sciences. The school’s three campuses include a residential campus in Fredericksburg, a second in nearby Stafford and a third in Dahlgren, Va., which serves as a center of development of educational and research partnerships between the Navy, higher education institutions and the region’s employers.
