A Professional Organizer’s Favorite Organizing App

Sometimes (actually most of the time) a “To Do” list can become overwhelming. I’ve been there before and I’ve seen clients scrolling through pages and pages of a notebook looking for that one “thing” that they forgot to transfer into their new “To Do” list two weeks and 10 pages ago.

When I started Scrum Training Academy, I discovered an awesome app that is free, and I’m using it now to track everything. I’ve ditched the paper!

Managing my two businesses Organization Direct and Scrum Training Academy there is absolutely no way that I can keep everything in my head. So here is my secret to make it all happen.
It’s an app called Trello

I even organize my clients – clients with it. And, no, this is not a typo. I work with a client who has clients with a long list of requirements. And Trello allows me to track it all without having to “remember” anything.

Here is how Trello works.

You develop Boards. I have multiple Boards. For Organization Direct I have boards called: clients, potential clients, projects, items for sale, etc.

Then you develop what are called “cards.” In my Scrum world, these are Epics. In my Organizing world, these are lists. So if I have one Epic (a large project or “user story”) I’ll title my board ABS Store. Then I’ll title my card Launch business. Under that card I’ll list everything that needs to happen in order for me to launch the business.

Trello allows you to create a checklist which you can literally check off. Then it creates a percentage of “done,” which allows you to see your progress. It may sound complicated, but it really simplifies so much for me.

And this is just the beginning of what the free version offers.

Scrum Training Academy could not have launched so quickly and reach huge goals without the Trello app. I’m even using it to organize my home “To Do” list. I live with a household of ADD’ers and the app helps them know what is next on the list.

I love to share tips and information to help you stay organized. Let me know if you are interested in learning more about Trello and staying organized. Oh…and the app is available for all your devices.

Here’s to an Organized Day!
