Deadline Extended for Health Insurance Marketplace Enrollment

by | Dec 16, 2015 | Health & Wellness

HealthCare.gov has extended the deadline to register for January 1 coverage. The Health Insurance Marketplace is for people who don’t have health insurance through a job, Medicare, Medicaid, the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), or another source.

Enrollment Extension Announcement from HealthCare.gov
Because of unprecedented demand at HealthCare.gov and our Marketplace Call Center, we’re extending the deadline to sign up for January 1 coverage until 11:59 p.m. PST on December 17.

Hundreds of thousands have already selected plans over the last few days, and approximately 1 million of you have left contact information to hold your place in line. We want to make sure all of you have access to affordable coverage. This additional 48 hours will give you a chance to come back and complete your enrollment for coverage starting January 1.

IMPORTANT
If you enroll in a health insurance plan through HealthCare.gov or the Marketplace Call Center by 11:59 p.m. December 17th Pacific Standard Time, your coverage will start January 1, 2016. If you provided your contact information on the web or at our call center, we’ll send you an email or call you when we’re ready for you to come back and finish enrolling.
