18 Presentations in UMW’s 2016 Great Lives Lecture Series

The University of Mary Washington’s (UMW) annual Chappell Great Lives Lecture Series will feature 18 distinguished biographers discussing a range of historic figures January 14 through April 14, 2016.

The programs begin at 7:30 p.m. in UMW’s Dodd Auditorium in George Washington Hall, 1301 College Ave. in Fredericksburg.

The lectures are free and no tickets are required, thanks to the initial endowment and continuing annual support of John Chappell. Each lecture concludes with an audience Q&A session and a book-signing. Books are available for purchase the night of the lecture.

Mar. 8 – Bob Hope by Richard Zoglin
Mar. 10 – William Tecumseh Sherman by Robert L. O’Connell
Mar. 15 – Charles Darwin by Janet Browne
Mar. 17 – Secretariat by William Nack
Mar. 22 – Civil War Female Spies by Karen Abbott
Mar. 24 – TR and FDR: Environmentalist Presidents by Douglas Brinkley
