Traffic hot spots in the Fredericksburg region January 10 – 16, 2016.

City of Fredericksburg
Fall Hill Avenue
(Update) Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on eastbound Fall Hill Avenue between the 7-Eleven store and Wegmans. Crews will be replacing storm pipes and paving in this area. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone on the following days:
· Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
· Friday, 9 a.m. – noon

Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement Project
Construction is underway on the Fall Hill Avenue widening and I-95 overpass replacement project. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Fall Hill Avenue between the Rappahannock Canal bridge and Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park). The project will be completed in January 2017.

Spotsylvania County
Routine Maintenance Activities
(Update) Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
· Route 17 (Mills Drive) – brush cutting
· Route 610 (Elys Ford Road) – shoulder work
· Route 674 (Chancellor Road) – shoulder work

Route 1 and Route 606 (Morris Road/Mudd Tavern Road)
Construction is underway to add left turn lanes on Route 1 northbound and southbound to enhance safety at the intersection of Route 1 and Mudd Tavern Road/Morris Road in the Thornburg area of Spotsylvania County. The project will be completed by June 2016.

Stafford County
Route 17
(New) Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Crews will be line striping along the shoulder on eastbound and westbound Route 17. Motorists should be alert to this slow moving mobile work zone between McLean Drive and International Parkway.

Routine Maintenance Activities
(Update) Monday–Thursday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
· Route 1 (Jefferson David Hwy) – shoulder work
· Route 607 (Deacon Road) – brush cutting and pothole repair
· Route 630 (Courthouse Road) – brush cutting
· Route 608 (Brooke Road) – ditching
· Route 644 (Rockhill Church Road) – brush cutting

Route 610/Onville Road Intersection Improvement Project
Construction is underway at the intersection of Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) and Route 641 (Onville Road) to build additional turn lanes. Traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction on Onville Road. The project will be completed in May 2017.

Route 17
Construction is underway to widen Route 17 from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The work zone extends from just south of the I-95 interchange to Cardinal Forest Drive. Motorists should be alert to changes in traffic pattern and periodic overnight lane closures. This project will be completed by December 2016.

Caroline County
Routine Maintenance Activities
(Update) Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
Route 17 (Tidewater Trail) – brush cutting
· Route 301 (Richmond Turnpike) – shoulder work and litter pickup
· Route 207 (Roger Clark Boulevard) – shoulder work
· Route 721 (Sparta Road) – tree trimming
· Route 751 (Coleman Town Road) – pipe cleaning

Route 648 (Sunshine Road) Bridge Replacement
Route 648 (Sunshine Road) in Caroline County is closed to through traffic. Crews are replacing a bridge approximately 1.1 miles from Route 647. Motorists should follow posted detour signs. The estimated completion date for this project is January 2016.

Westmoreland County
Route 205/Route 631 (Longfield Road)
(New) Motorists should be alert to construction crews and equipment in the vicinity of Route 205 and Route 631 (Longfield Road). Crews are preparing for the project that will improve the existing intersection. The project will realign and widen the intersection and construct a right turn lane on Route 205 for vehicles turning onto Route 631 (Longfield Road). The project is expected to be complete by July 1, 2016.
