Traffic hot spots for the Fredericksburg region January 3 – 9, 2016.

Stafford County
Routine Maintenance Activities
Monday–Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:

Route 1 – shoulder work
Route 627 (Mountain View Road) – brush cutting
Route 608 (Brooke Road) – brush cutting

Under Construction:
Route 610/Onville Road Intersection Improvement Project
Construction is underway at the intersection of Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) and Route 641 (Onville Road) to build additional turn lanes. Traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction on Onville Road. The project will be completed in May 2017.

Route 17
Construction is underway to widen Route 17 from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The work zone extends from just south of the I-95 interchange to Cardinal Forest Drive. Motorists should be alert to changes in traffic pattern and periodic overnight lane closures. This project will be completed by December 2016.

Spotsylvania County
Route 606 (Morris Road/Mudd Tavern Road)
Monday-Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. Periodic single lane closures on eastbound and westbound Route 606 to paint lane markings near the Route 1 intersection. Traffic will be controlled by a flagging crew. This work is part of a VDOT construction project to add turn lanes at the intersection of Route 1 and Route 606.

Routine Maintenance Activities
Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:

Route 613 (Brock Road) – patching
Route 618 (River Road) – patching
Route 621 (Orange Plank Road) – tree trimming
Route 627 (Gordon Road) – patching

Under Construction: Route 1 and Route 606 (Morris Road/Mudd Tavern Road)
Construction is underway to add left turn lanes on Route 1 northbound and southbound to enhance safety at the intersection of Route 1 and Mudd Tavern Road/Morris Road in the Thornburg area of Spotsylvania County. The project will be completed by June 2016.

City of Fredericksburg
Fall Hill Avenue
Beginning Monday, motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on eastbound Fall Hill Avenue between the 7-Eleven store and Wegmans. Crews will be paving in this area. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone on the following days:
· Monday, Noon – 3 p.m.
· Tuesday – Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
· Thursday, 9 a.m. – noon

Under Construction: Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement Project
Construction is underway on the Fall Hill Avenue widening and I-95 overpass replacement project. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Fall Hill Avenue between the Rappahannock Canal bridge and Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park). The project will be completed in January 2017.

Caroline County
Route 301
(New) Thursday, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Single lane closure on northbound and southbound Route 301 at the Rappahannock River bridge. Crews will be inspecting the bridge.

Routine Maintenance Activities
Monday-Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
Route 17 – brush cutting
Route 301– ditching
Route 301 – shoulder work
Route 622 (Durrette Road) – gravel road maintenance
Route 690 (Old CC Road) – gravel road maintenance

Under Construction: Route 648 (Sunshine Road) Bridge Replacement
Route 648 (Sunshine Road) in Caroline County is closed to through traffic. Crews are replacing a bridge approximately 1.1 miles from Route 647. Motorists should follow posted detour signs. The estimated completion date for this project is January 2016.
