VDOT hot spots for the Fredericksburg region January 17 – 23, 2016.

Fredericksburg
Interstate 95
(New) Tuesday and Wednesday, 9:30 p.m. – 5 a.m. Motorists traveling on I-95 southbound will be restricted to one lane at mile marker 131 located just north of Exit 130 (Route 3/Fredericksburg). Crews will be installing a containment system under the Fall Hill Avenue bridge in preparation of the upcoming bridge demolition. A single lane closure will be in place at 9:30 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. All travel lanes will be open at 5 a.m. each day. In addition, the entrance and exit ramp at the Fredericksburg Safety Rest Area and Welcome Center will be narrowed from 9:30 p.m. – 5 a.m. The facility will remain open.

Mary Washington Boulevard
(New) Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Mary Washington Boulevard between Hospital Drive and Sam Perry Boulevard due to trucks entering and exiting the Fall Hill Avenue Widening Project site. Flaggers will direct motorist through the work zone.

Fall Hill Avenue
(Update) Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. -3:30 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on eastbound Fall Hill Avenue between Carl D. Silver Parkway and the canal. Crews are replacing storm water pipes and paving in this area. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Stafford County
Routine Maintenance Activities
(Update) Tuesday–Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
· Route 1 (Jefferson David Hwy) – shoulder work
· Route 608 (Brooke Road) – ditching
· Route 626 (Leeland Road) – shoulder work
· Route 624 (Layhill Road) – brush cutting
· Route 1097 (Willow Branch Lane) – pipe work

Spotsylvania County
Routine Maintenance Activities
(Update) Tuesday -Thursday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
· Route 17 (Mills Drive) – brush cutting
· Route 610 (Elys Ford Road) – shoulder work
· Route 674 (Chancellor Road) – shoulder work
· Route 617 (Hams Ford Road) – tree trimming
· Route 656 (Towles Mill Road) – shoulder work
· Route 612 (Stubbs Bridge Road) – tree trimming
· Route 612 (West Catharpin Road) – ditching
· Route 608 (Robert E. Lee Drive) – tree trimming

Caroline County
Routine Maintenance Activities
(Update) Tuesday-Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
· Route 2 (Fredericksburg Turnpike) – tree trimming
· Route 301 (Richmond Turnpike) – tree trimming
· Route 207 (Rogers Clark Blvd.) – litter pick-up
· Route 606 (Stonewall Jackson Road) – ditching
· Route 640 (New Baltimore Road – brush cutting
· Route 610 (Pepmier Hill Road) – brush cutting

Fredericksburg
Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement Project
Construction is underway on the Fall Hill Avenue widening and I-95 overpass replacement project. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Fall Hill Avenue between the Rappahannock Canal bridge and Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park). The project will be completed in January 2017.

Stafford County
Route 610/Onville Road Intersection Improvement Project
Construction is underway at the intersection of Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) and Route 641 (Onville Road) to build additional turn lanes. Traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction on Onville Road. The project will be completed in May 2017.

Route 17
Construction is underway to widen Route 17 from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The work zone extends from just south of the I-95 interchange to Cardinal Forest Drive. Motorists should be alert to changes in traffic pattern and periodic overnight lane closures. This project will be completed by December 2016.

Spotsylvania County
Route 1 and Route 606 (Morris Road/Mudd Tavern Road)
Construction is underway to add left turn lanes on Route 1 northbound and southbound to enhance safety at the intersection of Route 1 and Mudd Tavern Road/Morris Road in the Thornburg area of Spotsylvania County. The project will be completed by June 2016.

Caroline County
Route 648 (Sunshine Road) Bridge Replacement –
(Update) Route 648 (Sunshine Road) in Caroline County is now open to traffic. The bridge replacement project is near completion. The final paving is expected to take place in the spring.

Westmoreland County
Route 205/Route 631 (Longfield Road)
(New) Motorists should be alert to construction crews and equipment in the vicinity of Route 205 and Route 631 (Longfield Road) as crews work to improve the existing intersection. The project will realign and widen the intersection and construct a right turn lane on Route 205 for vehicles turning onto Route 631 (Longfield Road). The project is expected to be complete by July 1, 2016.
