Stafford County Opens Winter Storm Day Center

Stafford County Administrator Anthony Romanello declared a local state of emergency in response to the coming significant snowstorm.

Stafford County will host a reception center from 8 a.m. – 8 p.m Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 22 – 24, 2016, at the Ford T. Humphrey Public Safety Building, 1225 Courthouse Rd. in Stafford.

At the reception center, County staff will assist citizens with basic needs, including:
• Assistance for temporary sheltering
• Food and water
• Internet access
• Charging stations
• A place to warm up
• The Sheriff’s Office Animal Control mobile pet unit will be available at the center during the hours it is open to shelter pets. Pet owners will be responsible for the care and exercise of their animals.

Stafford County is prepared to open emergency shelters if necessary.

Storm Tips
Stafford County citizens can dial 311 for non-emergency questions from a landline. Callers from a cell phone should dial (540) 658-4311 or (540) 658-5311. If anyone has a life-threatening emergency, they need to call 911 immediately.
