Winter Storm Jonas Closings and Cancellations

Cancellations, closings and delays beginning Friday, Jan. 22, 2016.

Caroline County Public Schools are closed Friday. All weekend activities are cancelled. Twelve-month employees are Code 3.

Central Rappahannock Regional Library is closing all branches at 11 a.m.

City of Fredericksburg offices are closing at 11 a..m. All essential personnel must still report as directed by their supervisors.

Dorothy Hart Community Center programs and events are all cancelled on Friday.

FRED Transit announced there will be no FRED VRE Feeder Bus service, no D6 Commuter service, and no Eagle Express service on Friday. All other FRED bus routes will run as normal until noon.

Fredericksburg Academy is closed Friday. All weekend events are cancelled.

Fredericksburg Christian School is closed. Code 0 for staff.

Fredericksburg City Parks announced Old Mill Park, Dixon Park, Alum Spring Park and the Dog Park will remain closed until further notice.

Fredericksburg City Public Schools are closed. Code Red for staff.

Fredericksburg Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court is closing at noon.

Germanna Community College locations are closed Friday and Saturday Jan. 22 and 23.

King George County Schools will be closed Friday, Jan. 22. Code 2 for 12 month employees. The SAT test scheduled this weekend has been cancelled.

Lafayette Upper Elementary and Walker-Grant Middle School Saturday Schools will not be held on January 23. The sessions have been rescheduled for Saturday, Jan. 30.

Saint Michael the Archangel High School in Fredericksburg is closed.

Spotsylvania County has issued a Declaration of Local Emergency to begin at 7 a.m. on Friday and continue through the duration of the event. “A Declaration of Local Emergency activates the response and recovery programs of all applicable local and inter-jurisdictional Emergency Operations Plans, and authorizes the furnishing of aid and assistance in accordance with those plans in order to mitigate the effects of the emergency,” said Kathy Smith, public information officer.

Spotsylvania County Animal Shelter closing at noon Friday.

Spotsylvania County Circuit Court Clerk’s Office is closing at noon. This is an update. The cut-off time for land recordings will be at 11:30 a.m.

Spotsylvania County Convenience Centers and the Livingston Landfill Facility are closing at noon on January 22, and will remain closed on Saturday and Sunday.

Spotsylvania County Government offices are closing at noon. Liberal leave policy in effect for staff for the morning.

Spotsylvania County Public Schools will be closed on Friday, Jan 22. Code 1 for 12-month employees.

Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office lobby area is closing at noon on Friday. All other functions in the Sheriff’s Office will remain operational.

Spotsylvania County Visitors Center and Museum are closed Saturday and Sunday, Jan. 23 and 24.

Stafford County Public Schools are closed Friday, with employees on Code 1.

Stafford County activities are cancelled Friday through Sunday, Jan. 22 – 24, including parks and recreation events and church services held in county schools. The SAT exams at MVHS, NSHS and CFHS scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 23, have been cancelled and rescheduled for February 20.

University of Mary Washington has closed all campuses Friday through Sunday.

VRE is operating an “S” Schedule January 22. Only trains marked with an “S” next to its train number on the schedule will operate. “The longest trains will be the first departures on each line and we cannot change the published schedules,” VRE said. “Please expect the mid-day departures to be extremely crowded.”
