The Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce kicked off its centennial celebration with a ribbon cutting and open house on Tuesday, Jan 26, 2016.

Chartered in 1916, the Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce was formed to bring more business to the Fredericksburg area. “A group of businessmen created the financial means to purchase land, recruit businesses and trade, and capitalize on the local railroad,” said Susan Spears, chamber president and CEO.

Since then, the chamber has gone through several name changes. It was originally called Fredericksburg Businessmen’s Association, and later Fredericksburg Chamber of Commerce.

When Stafford and Spotsylvania counties joined, the name changed to Fredericksburg-Stafford-Spotsylvania Chamber of Commerce.

The present name — Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce — was adopted in 1995 to reflect representation of all localities in Planning District 16, which includes Fredericksburg, Spotsylvania, Stafford, Caroline and King George.
