Flooding, Severe Thunderstorms Possible February 24

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch until 11 p.m. The Virginia counties included are Arlington, Culpeper, Fairfax, Fauquier, King George, Loudoun, Orange, Prince William, Spotsylvania, and Stafford; and the cities of Alexandria, Fairfax, Falls Church, Fredericksburg, Manassas, and Manassas Park.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a flood watch for the Fredericksburg region from 10 a.m. to midnight on Wednesday, Feb. 24, 2016.

Rain and showers are expected all day, with the possibility of a thunderstorm between 4 and 10 p.m. “Some of the storms could be severe and produce heavy rainfall,” the NWS said. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch are possible.

Wednesday’s high is expected near 66, with a southeast wind 7 to 12 mph increasing to 16 to 21 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 30 mph.

Scattered showers should continue overnight, with a low near 43.

Thursday is expected to be mostly cloudy and breezy, with a high near 52.
