EDA Offers Grants to Help Businesses Establish Mobile Friendly Websites

by | Mar 3, 2016 | Business

The Fredericksburg Economic Development Authority (EDA) has added a new grant to its business assistant grant programs.

The Website Conversion Business Assistance Matching Grant was established to help existing small businesses in the City of Fredericksburg (22401) make their website mobile-friendly.

“Applications for the 50/50 matching grants will be reviewed by Vectec Solutions and approved by the EDA on a first come, first-served basis,” said Amy Peregoy, economic development specialist for the City of Fredericksburg’s Department of Economic Development and Tourism. The maximum award is $500.

“Google, through a change in their search algorithm, will penalize companies with lower rankings if the website is NOT mobile friendly or responsive,” said Vectec Solutions in its program flier. “Responsive sites
will be given preference because they provide a better user experience.”

During the application process, Vectec Solutions will conduct an individual website assessment, offering advice on the types of online improvements needed to help businesses meet their mobile friendly/responsive goals.

City businesses interested in applying for a website conversion grant should first contact Amy Peregoy via the email form, or call her at 540-372-1216.

The EDA’s other grant programs include:
