Snow Likely Thursday Night Through Friday Morning

A winter weather advisory is in effect Thursday night, March 3, 2016, through Friday morning for the region, including the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Stafford, Spotsylvania and King George.

There’s a 40 percent chance of rain Thursday, mainly after 3 p.m. The high is expected near 44.

The rain is expected to mix with snow in the evening hours, then change to all snow. The overnight low should be near 31. The chance of precipitation is 90 percent, with new snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible, according to the National Weather Service.

Snow is expected to continue through 9 a.m. Friday morning, becoming a rain and snow mix between 9 a.m. and noon. The high is expected near 43. The chance of precipitation is 80 percent, with new snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Friday night’s low will be near 28.

Saturday should be mostly cloudy, with a high near 48.

There’s a 30 percent chance of rain Saturday evening, possibly changing to rain and snow overnight into Sunday.

Sunday will be mostly sunny, with a high near 50.
