by | Mar 17, 2016 | Traffic

There will be lane closures on Interstate 95 northbound and southbound in the Fredericksburg region overnight March 17 into March 18, 2016.

Southbound Interstate 95 Delays
Motorists traveling on southbound Interstate 95 could experience delays while crews perform an emergency bridge deck repair near Exit 133/Route 17 in Stafford County, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) said.

Single or double lane closures will be in place on southbound I-95 at the Route 17 overpass at the following scheduled times:
· 9:30 p.m. Single lane closure
· 10 p.m. – 5 a.m. Double lane closure

Additionally, two lanes of Route 17 eastbound will be closed underneath the bridge from 9:30 p.m. to 5 a.m. overnight.

Crews will repair multiple potholes in the right and center travel lanes on the bridge deck.

Northbound Interstate 95 Delays
Two lanes of Interstate 95 northbound will be closed 9 p.m. – midnight at the Fall Hill Avenue overpass in Fredericksburg. There will then be full interstate closures for intermittent 30-minute intervals between midnight and 3 a.m., to remove bridge beams from the old Fall Hill Avenue overpass. Traffic will be released between closures. Then, two lanes will be closed from 3 a.m. to 4:30 a.m.
