Public Hearing, Comments on Adding I-95 SB Travel Lane in Stafford
Construction of a fourth travel lane would be built between I-95 mile marker 143 and 2,250 feet south of a new, relocated I-95 interchange at exit 140 (Courthouse Road).
This proposed project is a construction option on the existing I-95/Route 630 (Courthouse Road) interchange relocation and Route 630 (Courthouse Road) widening project, the Virginia Department of Transportation reported. Design and construction of a fourth I-95 travel lane will be contingent on available funding, after bids are submitted and reviewed.
Construction is anticipated to occur within the existing right-of-way. As part of this project, new sound walls are proposed along the general purpose lanes within VDOT right-of-way.
The design public hearing will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at Colonial Forge High School, 550 Courthouse Rd., in Stafford. The inclement weather date is Tuesday, April 5, 2016.
People can stop by to review displays and plans, and to discuss questions with VDOT staff. There will not be a formal presentation.
Construction on the project is expected to begin in 2017, with completion anticipated in 2020.
Written and oral comments will be accepted at the hearing. Comments can also be submitted by March 31, 2016, to Michelle Shropshire, VDOT Project Manager, 87 Deacon Rd, Fredericksburg, Va. 22405. Comments may also be emailed to [email protected]
