VDOT hot spots for the Fredericksburg region April 3 – 9, 2016.

City of Fredericksburg
Mary Washington Boulevard
(Update) Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Mary Washington Boulevard between Hospital Drive and Sam Perry Boulevard due to trucks entering and exiting the Fall Hill Avenue widening project site. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Fall Hill Avenue
(Update) Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on eastbound Fall Hill Avenue between Carl D. Silver Parkway and the Rappahannock Canal. Crews are replacing storm water pipes and paving in this area. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Under Construction:
Fall Hill Avenue Widening and I-95 Overpass Replacement Project
Construction is underway on the Fall Hill Avenue widening and I-95 overpass replacement project. Motorists should expect lane closures and brief delays on Fall Hill Avenue between the Rappahannock Canal bridge and Carl D. Silver Parkway (Central Park). The project will be completed in January 2017.

Stafford County
Route 17
(Update) Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will continue paving the crossovers on Route 17 between Stafford Lakes Parkway and Commerce Parkway. Traffic on Route 17 will be shifted slightly in the work zone and various crossovers within the work zone may be closed periodically. Two travel lanes will be open in both directions.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road)
(Update) Sunday – Friday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. One lane will be closed on eastbound Route 610 at Onville Road. Crews are placing sewer lines in connection with the Route 610/Onville Road intersection improvement project.

Routine Maintenance Activities
(New) Monday–Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:
Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Hwy.) – shoulder work
Route 3 (Kings Hwy.) – pothole patching and shoulder work
Route 17 (Warrenton Road) – pothole patching
Route 218 (White Oak Road) – brush cutting
Route 604 (Belle Plains Road) – brush cutting
Route 752 (Richards Ferry Road) – pothole patching
Crow’s Nest – road construction

Under Construction:
Route 610/Onville Road Intersection Improvement Project
Construction is underway at the intersection of Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) and Route 641 (Onville Road) to build additional turn lanes. Traffic has been reduced to one lane in each direction on Onville Road. The project will be completed in May 2017.

Route 17
Construction is underway to widen Route 17 from four to six lanes between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway, a distance of nearly 2 miles. The work zone extends from just south of the I-95 interchange to Cardinal Forest Drive. Motorists should be alert to changes in traffic pattern and periodic overnight lane closures. This project will be completed by December 2016.

Spotsylvania
Routine Maintenance Activities
(New) Monday–Friday, 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will be performing routine maintenance that may cause brief travel delays at the following locations:

Lee’s Hill Subdvd. – shoulder work

Under Construction:
Route 1 and Route 606 (Morris Road/Mudd Tavern Road)
Construction is underway to add left turn lanes on Route 1 northbound and southbound to enhance safety at the intersection of Route 1 and Mudd Tavern Road/Morris Road in the Thornburg area of Spotsylvania County. The project will be completed by June 2016.

Westmoreland County
Route 205 at Route 631 (Longfield Road)
Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. Crews will continue work to install a drainage pipe across Route 205 at the intersection of Route 631 (Longfield Road) located near Colonial Beach. Motorists should expect delays on Route 205 and Longfield Road. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone. This work is in connection with the Route 205 and Longfield Road intersection reconstruction project.

Under Construction:
Route 205/Route 631 (Longfield Road)
Motorists should be alert to construction crews and equipment in the vicinity of Route 205 and Route 631 (Longfield Road) as crews work to improve the existing intersection. The project will realign and widen the intersection and construct a right turn lane on Route 205 for vehicles turning onto Longfield Road. Estimated completion is July 1, 2016.

Caroline County
Under Construction:
Route 722 (Nelson Hill Road)
Route 722 (Nelson Hill Road) is closed at the bridge over the Mattaponi River for a bridge rehabilitation project. Motorists should follow the posted recommended detour route. Estimated completion is mid-September 2016.

Route 648 (Sunshine Road) Bridge Replacement
Route 648 (Sunshine Road) in Caroline County is open to traffic. Final paving will occur in spring 2016.
