Dominion Raceway and Entertainment (DR&E) officials have cancelled the Saturday, April 9, 2016, grand opening, due to predicted bad weather. Friday night’s practice has also been cancelled.

Grand opening festivities have been rescheduled for Saturday, April 16, with a green flag at 7 p.m. Opening night will be part of the “Budweiser Summer Nights Race Series.” Tickets purchased for April 9 will be honored for April 16, DR&E officials said.

“This was the right call for all of our stakeholders,” said DR&E General Manager Edwin Pardue. “Our racers, fans, and marketing and advertising partners deserve a great opening night.”

Dominion has added an open practice for Sunday, April 10. Registration will begin at 10 a.m., and cars will be able to practice from 12 – 4 p.m.

Dominion Raceway & Entertainment, a multipurpose motorsports and entertainment facility at 6501 Dominion Raceway Ave, in Thornburg, Va., is a 160-acre complex that will include a two-mile road course, a 4/10-mile paved NASCAR oval track, a 1/8-mile drag strip, and a festival concert venue.
