Fredericksburg Mayoral Candidates to Debate April 20

Incumbent Fredericksburg Mayor Mary Katherine Greenlaw and challenger Richard Dynes will participate in a debate at 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2016, in City Council chambers at City Hall, 715 Princess Anne St.

Greenlaw and Dynes will each present a two-minute opening statement, followed by questions from two panelists. A moderator will present questions submitted in advance by the audience.

The April 20 debate is sponsored by the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce, The Free Lance–Star, News Talk 1230/WFVA, the University of Mary Washington Legislative Action Committee, UMW College Republicans, and UMW Young Democrats.

The city’s May 3, 2016, council election is for mayor, and for the two at-large council seats currently held by Kerry Devine and Matt Kelly. Devine and Kelly are running unopposed for reelection.

Also on the ballot are two school board seats. The candidates are Charlotte G. Horne, Jarvis E. Bailey and Jannan W. Holmes.
