City of Fredericksburg May 3 General Election Details

The City of Fredericksburg will hold a general election on Tuesday, May 3, 2016, to elect a mayor, two at-large city council members, and two at-large school board members. On election day, the polls will be open 6 a.m. – 7 p.m.

The ballot will include:
Mayor
Richard M. Dynes
Mary Katherine Greenlaw

Member, City Council At-Large
Kerry P. Devine
Matthew J. Kelly

Member, School Board At-Large
Jarvis E. Bailey
Jannan W. Holmes
Charlotte G. Horne

Deadlines for the May 3, 2016, General Election
Deadline to register to vote, or update an existing registration is 5 p.m. Monday, April 11.
Deadline to request an absentee ballot to be mailed to you is 5 p.m. Tuesday, April 26. Your request must be received by your registrar by 5 p.m.
Deadline to request an absentee ballot by appearing in-person is 5 p.m. Saturday, April 30.

In-Person Absentee Voting
In-person absentee voting is open at the City of Fredericksburg Voter Registrar’s Office 8:30 a.m. – 4:40 p.m. Monday through Friday, beginning March 18. Absentee voting will also be available 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Saturday, April 30. The registrar’s office is located at 601 Caroline St, Suite 500-A, in downtown Fredericksburg.

Photo Identification Required
Virginia law requires all voters to provide an acceptable form of photo identification at the polls. Acceptable forms of photo ID for in-person voting include:
– Valid Virginia Driver’s License or Identification Card
– Valid Virginia DMV issued Veteran’s ID card
– Valid United States Passport
– Other government-issued photo identification cards (must be issued by US Government, the Commonwealth of Virginia, or a political subdivision of the Commonwealth
– Valid college or university student photo identification card (must be from an institution of higher education located in Virginia)
– Employee identification card containing a photograph of the voter and issued by an employer of the voter in the ordinary course of the employer’s business
or a Virginia Voter Photo ID Card obtained through any local general registrar’s office
