Westmoreland’s iconic Horsehead Cliffs are part of a greater geological tale stretching back millions of years. Part of that story are the sharks teeth found along our beach. Take home a unique memento of your trip to Westmoreland, a wearable work of art. Beading supplies are provided. Fees: $5 – buy a tooth. $3 – bring a tooth.

National Park Service historians Frank O’Reilly and Pete Maugle present “Into the Woods: Chancellorsville’s Tangled Nightmare.” Meet at Hazel Grove, Tour Stop 9, Chancellorsville Battlefield,
The National Park Service’s 15th annual History at Sunset 10-part series will feature eight programs never presented before. In recognition of the Centennial of the National Park Service, four programs will focus on the evolution of the park.

Sounds of Summer Concert Series

Rue Snider performs this week at the Fredericksburg Area Museum and Cultural Center’s summer concert series.

Yoga in Hurkamp Park
Saturday, June 18, 8 – 10 a.m.
Hurkamp Park, 500 William St. in downtown Fredericksburg, Va.
Mental Health America of Fredericksburg and Fredericksburg Parks & Recreation are presenting this free morning of yoga to “bring together like minded individuals and to create an awareness of mental health and well-being thru the practice of yoga and to promote peace and harmony in the world.” Instructors will represent various yoga studios from the area.

Father’s Day Fishing Canoe Trip at Lake Anna State Park
Saturday June 18, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Lake Anna State Park, 6800 Lawyers Rd., Spotsylvania Courthouse, Va.
Join the park interpreter on this ranger led fishing trip by canoe.
Registration closes 5 p.m. Thursday, June 16 at 5 p.m. Call 540-854-6245.
$5 per person, shoes required (NO flip-flops). For ages 6 and up.

Chancellorsville Battlefield Living History Weekend
Saturday, June 18 and Sunday, June 19, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Stop by the Chancellorsville Battlefield Visitor Center, 9001 Plank Rd., Spotsylvania, for a map and directions to the program locations.
The National Park Service (NPS) is hosting a variety of reenactment groups at Chancellorsville Battlefield. The events are ongoing throughout each day, with cannon firing demonstrations at 10, 12, and 2.
Free.

Civil War Medical Living History at Ellwood Manor
Saturday, June 18, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Ellwood Manor, 36380 Constitution Hwy. (Route 20), Locust Grove, Va.
Join the Friends of Wilderness Battlefield (FoWB) for living history presentations regarding medical issues and practices during the Civil War, on Saturday, June 18, 2016. This is held in conjunction with a more comprehensive National Park Service living history weekend on the Chancellorsville Battlefield.

Slide the City Richmond
Saturday, June 18, 9 a.m. – 7 p.m.
East Byrd Street and South 3rd Street, Richmond, Va.
Slide the City is a family friendly slip-and-slide water party event. There will be live music, food, drinks, water, and of course the biggest slip and slide ever to hit asphalt. Don’t worry, it’s padded. You’ll get a wristband that gives you three slides during the wave time you choose. You’ll also receive a tube, a mouth guard, and a drawstring bag. When purchasing your ticket, you’ll select a 2-hour wave time in which to slide.

Fifth Annual Father’s Day Festival at A. Smith Bowman Distillery
Saturday, June 18, 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Distillery tours, live music, demonstrations, vendors, beer, wine and bourbon.

Promotion and Farewell: Hugh Mercer’s Last Days at Home
Saturday, June 18, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Hugh Mercer’s Apothecary, 1020 Caroline St., Fredericksburg.
Participate with reenactors discussing the pros and cons of the revolution, and Dr. Mercer’s choice to accept promotion to Brigadier General and join George Washington in New Jersey.

Fredericksburg Food Truck Festival
Saturday, June 18, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.
Fredericksburg Agricultural Fairgrounds, 2400 Airport Ave., Fredericksburg.
VA StrEats, producers of Northern Virginia’s largest food truck festivals, is heading to Fredericksburg. Join more than 20 of the area’s top food trucks, along with local vendors and entertainment for this family-friendly event.
General admission is free. VIP Hour (11 a.m. – 12 p.m.) is $10.

Shakespeare on the Lawn at Kenmore Plantation
Saturday, June 18, and Sunday, June 19, 5:45 – 9 p.m.
Kenmore, 1201 Washington Ave., Fredericksburg, Va.
Shakespeare on the Lawn at Kenmore returns this June with Hamlet — one of the most powerful and influential tragedies in English literature. The production is set in an eighteenth-century style, as if a young George Washington is in the audience. Bring lawn chairs or blankets. Come early and enjoy your own picnic on the lawn. Tours of the mansion offered from 5:45 – 6:45 p.m., with performances starting at 7 p.m.
$10 adults / $5 students

Welcome Summer at Lake Anna Winery
Saturday, June 18, 6 – 10 p.m.
Lake Anna Winery, 5621 Courthouse Rd., Spotsylvania, Va.
Welcome summer out on the lawn, with music by Spectrum and dancing. Billiken’s BBQ will be available for purchase.
The $15 cover charge includes a souvenir wine glass.

Father’s Day at Old House Vineyards
Sunday, June 19, 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.
Old House Vineyards, 18351 Corkys Lane, Culpeper, Va.
Pack Dad, a picnic, and your fishing poles, and visit the vineyard for an afternoon of music from Eli Cook, wine tasting, wood oven pizzas, cigars, and fishing in the pond. Worms provided!

Father’s Day Airshow
Sunday, June 19, 2:30 – 4 p.m. (Gates and field open at 11 a.m.)
The Flying Circus Aerodrome, 5114 Ritchie Rd. (Rt. 644), Bealton, Va.
Biplane rides are available before and after the show, for an additional charge.
Air show tickets: Adults $15, children $7, under 5 free.
