Horne’s Restaurant & Gifts, a landmark for travelers and locals for 55 years, is under new ownership.

The bright yellow-roofed eatery on U.S. 301 in Port Royal, Va., has been purchased by James and Linda Shiao, who own a Cold Stone Creamery in Northern Virginia. They plan to maintain Horne’s “hometown family atmosphere.”

Jan Snow and Tommy Morse, who’ve owned Horne’s for the last 25 years, will assist the new owners with the transition. Current staff will be retained.

“Tommy and I have sold Horne’s Restaurant after having the business over 25 years,” Snow wrote on Facebook. “A special thanks to all of the customers and employees that made Horne’s a success! Our employees will still be there to cook up great food and deliver it with smiles! Stop by and meet the new owners, James and LInda Shiao.”

Jeffrey R. Scott, president of Fredericksburg-based Advantage Business Advisors, Inc., managed the transaction and transfer of the business. He participated in the original sale of the business to Snow and Morse. “Horne’s history is not just about the bright yellow roof or the great food,” he said. “It’s also about their history of long-time employees, some who have been there for several decades. One staff member has worked there since the doors opened in 1961.”

Located at the intersection of U.S. 17 and U.S. 301, Horne’s will continue to be operate 24-hours, offering food, gifts, trinkets and gas.
