Fredericksburg Mayoral Election 2016 By the Numbers

Incumbent Mayor Mary Katherine Greenlaw defeated challenger Richard Dynes, with 1,489 votes to Dynes’s 825.

Of the 16,254 registered voters in the City of Fredericksburg, 14.25 percent — 2,317 — cast ballots in the May 3, 2016, mayoral race.

Here are the numbers by precinct:

Mary Katherine Greenlaw – 225 votes
Richard Dynes – 181 votes

Total Votes Cast – 799
Mary Katherine Greenlaw – 512 votes
Richard Dynes – 287 votes

Ward 3: Precinct 301
Total Votes Cast – 503
Mary Katherine Greenlaw – 331 votes
Richard Dynes – 171 votes
Write-In: 1

Ward 4: Precinct 401
Total Votes Cast – 352
Mary Katherine Greenlaw – 260 votes

Votes from precinct 402 were not reported until almost 8:30 p..m. — more than an hour behind the city’s five other precincts. New staff there had trouble closing out the ballot machine, Fredericksburg Voter Registrar Juanita Pitchford said.
