Hartwood Elementary Fourth Graders Raise $950 for Food Bank

Hartwood Elementary School fourth graders with the help of their teacher Ms. Elena Beard organized a walk-a-thon near the end of the school year, and raised more than $900 for the Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank.

“One hundred students walked on average two miles each to raise $949.19, which will provide 1,898 meals to help families with children home for the summer that need of additional food assistance,” Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank wrote on their blog.

Hartwood Elementary School is located in Stafford County.

The Fredericksburg Regional Food Bank helps to provide nutritious food to over 20,000 people each month through their network of more than 70 non-profit and faith based organizations throughout the community.
