The Interfaith Community Council of Fredericksburg is accepting donations and registrations for their 2016 School Dressing Days.

School Dressing Days serves needy children, grades K – 12 in Fredericksburg, Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania and Stafford. This year’s event will be held from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 12, and Saturday, Aug. 13, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1710 Bragg Rd. in Fredericksburg.

Each pre-registered school-aged child will receive a new pair of jeans, new shirt, new socks, new underwear, backpack, school supplies, and toiletries. They can also choose a gently-used coat, jacket, or hoodie, and a used pair of shoes (sizes limited).

Pre-Registration will be held:
Fredericksburg United Methodist Church, 308 Hanover St., Fredericksburg
Saturday, July 30, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1710 Bragg Rd., Fredericksburg
Wednesday, Aug. 3, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Saturday, Aug. 6, 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.

To register, bring verification of your current address (driver’s license, DMV ID card, lease, utility bill, letter from social services), and one form of ID for each child (birth certificate, social security card, passport, Medicaid card or other medical card, DMV ID card, or report card).

Families not pre-registered in advance will only be allowed to receive items from 2 – 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, the last day of the event. Registration will be required that day from 1:30 – 2 p.m., so you’ll still need to provide the verifications listed above.

Donations of new shirts, jeans and backpacks, and monetary donations are greatly appreciated.

Monetary donations can be made to the Interfaith Community Council with school dressing days in the memo and mailed to ICC Treasurer, P O Box 1336, Fredericksburg, Va. 22402. Donations of new items can be dropped off at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. on August 11. New items can be jeans, shirts, socks, underwear, backpacks, and shoes. The only gently-used items we accept are coats, jackets, hoodies, and school-appropriate shoes.

Volunteers are also needed. Sign-up at http://www.signupgenius.com/ and search Sign Up: School Dressing Days.
