FAMPO Accepting Comments on Improvement Projects for 2040 Long Range Plan

The Fredericksburg Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (FAMPO) is accepting comments on 11 proposed improvement projects to be included in the 2040 Constrained Long Range Plan (CLRP). The 30-day comment period runs July 27 through August 26, 2016.

The 11 proposed improvement projects to be considered for inclusion in the transportation plan are:

1. Governor Nice Bridge (US 301) widening from 2 to 4 lanes divided
2. James Madison Parkway (US 301) and Bennion Road turn lane improvements
3. James Madison Parkway (US 301) and Kings Highway (VA 3) intersection improvements
4. Kings Highway (VA 3) and Stoney Knoll Road (Route 628) turn lane improvements
5. Kings Highway (VA 3) and Big Timber Road (Route 647) turn lane improvements
6. Kings Highway (VA 3) and Round Hill Road (Route 629) turn lane improvements
7. Kings Highway (VA 3) reconstruction with added capacity from James Madison Parkway (US 301) to Big Timber Road
8. Pine Hill Road (Route 621) reconstruction and improvements from Ridge Road to Round Hill Road
9. Chatterton Lane (Route 641) reconstruction and improvements from Caledon Road to End of Roadway
10. Salem Church Road (Route 628) reconstruction from James Madison Parkway (US 301) to West of VA 20
11. Route 3 Arterial Management Plan (Study) from East of Gordon Road to West of VA 20

In Person: During the public hearing

A public hearing will be held during the 7:15 p.m. policy committee meeting on Monday, Sept. 19. The amendments will be adopted on July 21, 2015 provided that no adverse public comments are received before the 30-day public comment period ends. The will be held at GWRC/FAMPO office located on 406 Princess Anne St. in Fredericksburg.
