Celebrate Virginia After Hours announced ticket holders for the George Thorogood And the Destroyers concert can receive a full refund. The concert was cancelled at the last minute July 28, 2016.

“For all the fans who came out to see the Destroyers and I in Fredericksburg, I would like to take a moment to offer an explanation,” Thorogood wrote in an email. “The band and I were there, willing and able to play. However, we were advised by a Virginia State Certified Structural Engineer that the staging and roof were unsafe, due to a variety of issues.

“I want to assure everyone we did not make this decision lightly. Our number one priority is the safety of our fans, band, and crew. I’ve been told that refunds will be available at the point of purchase. I wish we could have performed and hope you will all understand how difficult this has been for me, as I know it has been for you. Sincerely, George.”

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, the show at Celebrate Virginia After Hours tonight with George Thorogood and the Destroyers is cancelled,” the venue posted on Facebook and Twitter.

Ticket refunds will automatically be processed for those who purchased through TicketsToBuy.com, Celebrate Virginia After Hours said. Those who purchased tickets in person should return to the same outlet for a full refund.

Fredericksburg Today has contacted Celebrate Virginia After Hours for more information about the alleged problems with the staging and roof. Friday night’s concert was held as scheduled.
