UMW Galleries
The UMW Galleries accept proposals from professional artists and curators for solo and group exhibitions for each of our gallery spaces (Ridderhof Martin Gallery and duPont Gallery). Proposals should be submitted to [email protected]. Proposals are accepted year round, but are collected for review on November 1 and April 1.

Art Supply Swap
August 6, 2 – 3 p.m. at Kingdom Inspiration Studio, 1008 Sophia St.
The art supplies that you may think are trash could be another crafter’s treasure. Bring the supplies that you may not plan to use any longer any and swap with other artists. This is a great way to experiment with a new medium that you don’t want to spend a fortune to try.
Born to Create
August 8, 6 – 8 p.m. at Kingdom Inspiration Studio, 1008 Sophia St.
Join us for a weekly personal study on the book Born To Create by Teresa Dedmon. We will meet at the studio every Monday night from 6-8pm discussing each chapter of the book Born to Create. The first session is July 11th, this is an 11-week study. You may purchase your book on Amazon.com for $14.
Workshops
Silk Painting Workshop
August 6, 13, 27, 11 – 1 p.m. at Kingdom Inspiration Studio, 1008 Sophia St.
$65 per person
This workshop will teach you how to build a stretching frame for your silk, what silk I recommend and why, how to apply silk dye in layers to obtain a variety of effects and how to apply several different techniques to make it more interesting.

Botanical Portrait Class with Barbara J Ellison
August 20, 10:00 – 3 p.m. at Kingdom Inspiration Studio, 1008 Sophia St.
$130 per person.
In this five-hour class, you will learn ways to improve your flower photos and have fun in the process. Barbara will show various ways to improve your work, and you will have the chance to photograph around Fredericksburg to utilize what you have learned. You will need a digital camera, and laptop if you have one, but no photographic experience is required.

Fundraisers
The Square Plate Project
Veterans Moving Forward, Inc. will join Artful Dimensions Gallery at 911 Charles Street for a First Friday event kick-off on August 5, from 6 – 9 p.m.
Experienced and novice artists will be able to purchase blank square plates to turn into a unique work of art. All artists and service dog lovers will have the option to feature their masterpieces in an exhibit at the Gallery in November. Proceeds will be shared between both Veterans Moving Forward, Inc. and Artful Dimensions Gallery.
