Fredericksburg Region Traffic Alerts August 7 – 13

Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) work zones in Fredericksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Caroline and King George for August 7 – 13, 2016.

City of Fredericksburg
Route 1
Sunday, 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. and Monday − Thursday, 6 p.m. – 6 a.m. Route 1 northbound will be reduced to a single lane in the vicinity of Mary Washington Boulevard. Crews will be working on foundations and wiring for future traffic signal poles.

Fall Hill Avenue
Monday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Fall Hill Avenue between Carl D. Silver Parkway and the Rappahannock Canal for construction activity. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Mary Washington Boulevard
Monday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Mary Washington Boulevard between Hospital Drive and Sam Perry Boulevard for construction activity. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Stafford County
Route 17
Three through travel lanes are now open on Route 17 northbound and southbound between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway. Construction activities associated with the final phase of the Route 17 widening project will continue this week with minimal impact to traffic.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road)
Monday – Thursday, 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. One lane will be closed intermittently on Route 610 eastbound and westbound at Onville Road. Motorists may periodically encounter brief delays during the overnight hours in this work zone. Crews are placing sewer lines in connection with the Route 610/Onville Road intersection improvement project.

Route 1001 (Melcher Drive)
Thursday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Traffic reduced to one lane for pavement milling. Motorists should follow direction from flagging crew in the work zone.

Routine maintenance
Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will be performing routine maintenance activities in the following locations:
Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) – drainage, mowing, shoulder repair
Route 3 (Kings Highway) – brush removal
Route 218 (White Oak Road) – mowing
Route 603 (Caisson Road) − ditch work
Route 607 (Cool Spring Road) – mowing
Route 611 (Widewater Road) – patching
Route 644 (Rock Hill Church Road) − drainage
Route 752 (Richards Ferry Road) – shoulder repair

Spotsylvania County
Interstate 95 Northbound
Monday – Thursday, noon – 3:30 p.m. Bridge inspections. On Monday and Tuesday, I-95 northbound will be reduced to two lanes at mile markers 121-122, just north of Exit 118/Thornburg. On Wednesday and Thursday, I-95 northbound will be reduced to two lanes at mile markers 128-129, just north of Exit 126/Spotsylvania.

Interstate 95 Southbound
Monday – Thursday, 9 a.m. – noon. Bridge inspections. On Monday and Tuesday, I-95 southbound will be reduced to two lanes at mile markers 121-122, just south of Exit 126/Spotsylvania. On Wednesday and Thursday, I-95 southbound will be reduced to two lanes at mile markers 128-129, just south of Exit 130/Route 3 at Fredericksburg.

Route 620 (Harrison Road)
Monday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent flagging and single lane closures on Route 620 (Harrison Road) for tree removal. Motorists may periodically encounter brief delays in the overnight hours in this work zone. This work is in connection with the Route 1 and Harrison Road intersection improvement project.

Route 627 (Gordon Road)
Sunday – Friday, 7 p.m. – 5 a.m. Crews will be milling and paving on Route 627 (Gordon Road) from
Route 628 (Smith Station Road) to just north of Route 674 (Chancellor Road). Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures and a rough driving surface in the work zone.

Route 628 (Smith Station Road)
Monday − Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Motorists should expect lane closures and delays on Route 628 southbound between the CVS entrance and Courtland High School. Flaggers will be directing traffic in the work zone. This work is in connection with the Route 628 (Smith Station Road) turn lanes and signal modification project.

Route 668 (Summit Crossing Road)
Monday, 8 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Road closure at rail crossing. CSX will perform emergency repairs to rail crossing. Motorists should follow posted detour route.

Routine maintenance
Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will be performing routine maintenance activities in the following locations:
Route 3 (Plank Road) − mowing
Route 17 (Mills Drive) − boom axe
Route 208 (Courthouse Road) – mowing
Route 522 (Zachary Taylor Highway) − mowing
Route 601 (Lawyers Road) – boom axe
Route 625 (Ashby Drive) − asphalt repairs
Route 632 (Hickory Ridge Road/Roxbury Mill Road North/South) − mowing
Route 649 (Seays Road) − boom axe
Route 656 (Towles Mill Road) – maintenance activities
Route 1175 (Albany Street) – drainage
Route 1177 (Burlington Drive) – drainage
Route 1278 (Burma Lane) – drainage
Route 1314 (Columbus Court) – drainage
Route 1825 (Peach Tree Drive) − drainage
Route 2291 (Spring Creek subdivision) − asphalt work

Caroline County
Route 17
Monday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will perform trench work on Route 17 northbound and southbound from just north of Route 301 to just south of Route 675 (Hazelwood Lane). Motorists should expect alternating lane closures in the work zone.

Bridge washing
Sunday – Thursday, 7 p.m. – 5 a.m. Multiple locations. Bridge washing will be underway this week on Route 1, Route 17, Route 207, Route 301, Route 601, Route 605, Route 632, Route 639, Route 647, Route 652 and Route 654. Estimated 2 hours of work at each location. This routine maintenance work protects the bridge by removing accumulated dirt, salt and debris, and keeps bridge joints and drainage facilities clear.

Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will be performing routine maintenance activities in the following locations:
Route 17 – ditching
Route 601 (Penola Road) – patching
Route 601 (Hewlett Road) – shoulder repair
Route 601 (Golansville Road, Reedy Mill Road) − ditching
Route 606 (Stonewall Jackson Road) – ditching
Route 629 (Minarchi Road) – grading
Route 632 (Quarters Road) – mowing
Route 721 (Sparta Road) – ditching
Route 766 (Burma Road) − grading

King George County
Route 3
Monday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Crews will be paving on Route 3 eastbound from the Stafford County line to just east of Route 665 (Birchwood Creek Lane). Motorists will be restricted to one lane in the work zone.
