Robyn Ryan Brings ‘Wild Things II’ to Art First

by | Aug 13, 2016 | Arts and Entertainment

By Suzanne Scherr, Art First Gallery.

Robyn Ryan paints and sculpts animals glimpsed in the wild, motivated to share the reassurance and peace she finds in nature. From her studio in Fauquier County, Ryan also challenges herself to express the personalities and energy of the animals she depicts.

Ryan’s new show “Wild Things II” is the August 2016 featured exhibit at Fredericksburg’s Art First Gallery, 824 Caroline St. An opening reception will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on First Friday, August 5, 2016.

“Wild Things II” will feature her acrylic layering technique, collage, mixed media and bronze sculpture, as did “Wild Things I” in 2014. “Gratitude for living where intimate knowledge of nature is possible fills this new show,” Ryan said.

Ryan began study with a National Watercolor Society artist when she was just eight-years-old. Decades later, she still participates in workshops and art retreats with artists she admires.

Ryan’s work has been in juried shows and galleries throughout Virginia, especially in Fredericksburg, Middleburg and Harrisonburg. She also teaches and demonstrates her varied techniques throughout the region. Her work appears on local wine labels and festival glasses.

“Wild Things II” will be on exhibit at Art First Gallery Wednesday, Aug. 3, through Monday, Aug. 29. The gallery is open 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Fridays.

Additional details of the show are available by visiting www.artfirstgallery.com or calling 540-371-7107. For more about the artist, please see www.RobynRyanArt.com
