Traffic Shift September 12 on Fall Hill Avenue

by | Sep 10, 2016 | Traffic

From the Virginia Department of Transportation

Fall Hill Avenue traffic in Fredericksburg will be shifted onto new asphalt between Crestview Apartments and Bragg Hill Drive/Heritage Park Drive on Monday, Sept. 12.

A five-minute traffic stop on Fall Hill Avenue will be required around 10 a.m. Monday, so crews can paint lane markings guiding motorists onto the new asphalt.

Once lane markings are complete, a flagging crew will direct Fall Hill Avenue traffic to shift slightly onto the new pavement.

New traffic signal equipment will be operational at the intersection of Fall Hill Avenue and Wicklow Drive, replacing the existing traffic signal.

Traffic is shifting to provide space for work crews to continue widening Fall Hill Avenue from two lanes to four lanes between the Rappahannock Canal and Gordon W. Shelton Boulevard.

Mary Washington Boulevard will also be extended to connect with Fall Hill Avenue as part of the $44.4 million widening and I-95 overpass replacement project. The project will be completed in January 2017.
