Developer Carl Braun pulled his Highlander Park at Hazel Run townhouse development from the Fredericksburg Planning Commission agenda Wednesday night.

The project proposed 110 townhomes on 12.44 acres across Lafayette Boulevard from Fredericksburg National Cemetery.

Braun said he wanted to postpone the public hearing, to give him time to address city staff concerns.

Zoning Administrator Mike Craig had recommended denial of Braun’s request for a proffers amendment.

“The property has sensitive environmental and historical features and characteristics,” Craig wrote in his memo to the Planning Commission. “The application of 110 townhomes onto these sensitive lands can only be achieved by degrading existing historical, environmental, and recreational facilities on and adjacent to the site.”

Braun has not (yet) responded to our call and email asking for more information.
