Fredericksburg Region Traffic Alerts September 18 – 24

District-Wide Line Striping
(New) Monday – Friday, daylight to dusk. Crews will be refreshing the pavement markings on various primary and secondary routes in the following counties. Motorists should be prepared for brief delays and avoid passing the slow moving vehicles in this mobile work zone:
Stafford County
Spotsylvania County
Caroline County
King William County
King and Queen County
Mathews County
Middlesex County
Gloucester County

District-Wide Bridge Washing
(Update) Sunday – Thursday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Bridge washing will take place at the following locations this week. Motorists should expect intermittent single lane closures and brief delays during daytime hours for these mobile work zones. Each bridge takes approximately two hours to wash.

City of Fredericksburg
Cowan Blvd. – bridge over I-95. Single lane closure on I-95 northbound and southbound on Wednesday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m.

Stafford County
Route 8900 (Centreport Parkway) – bridge over I-95 (Thursday)
Route 652 (Truslow Road) – bridge over I-95 (Thursday)
Route 637 (Telegraph Road) – bridge over I-95 southbound (Thursday)
Route 628 (American Legion Road) – bridge over I-95 (Thursday)
Route 627 (Mountain View Road) – bridge over I-95 (Thursday)
Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) – westbound bridge over I-95 (Thursday)
Route 610 (Garrisonville Road) – eastbound bridge over I-95 (Thursday)

City of Fredericksburg
Route 1
(New) Wednesday and Thursday, 6 p.m. – 6 a.m. A single lane will be closed on Route 1 northbound and southbound between the Rappahannock Canal and Alvey Drive. Crews are installing a new signal pole on Route 1 near the entrance to Mary Washington Hospital.

Fall Hill Avenue
Monday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Fall Hill Avenue between Carl D. Silver Parkway and the Rappahannock Canal for construction activity. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Mary Washington Boulevard
Monday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Mary Washington Boulevard between Hospital Drive and Sam Perry Boulevard for construction activity. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Princess Anne Street
(Update) Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. − 3 p.m. Paving work will continue on Princess Anne Street between Route 1 and Fauquier Street. Mobile work zone. Motorists may encounter single lane closures and brief detour. Motorists should follow posted signs and direction from flagging crew. Project will be underway through mid-October. Work began near Fauquier Street and is proceeding north toward Route 1. Additional work may occur outside the travel lanes on weekdays 7 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Stafford County
Route 17
(Update) Sunday – Thursday, 8 p.m. – 5:30 a.m. Crews will be refreshing the pavement markings on Route 17 northbound and southbound from the I-95 overpass to McLane Drive. Motorists should expect a single lane closure in the work zone.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road)
(Update) Monday – Thursday. One lane will be closed intermittently on Route 610 eastbound and westbound at Onville Road from daylight to dusk and again from 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. in this work zone. Crews are placing sewer lines for the Route 610/Onville Road intersection improvement project.

Route 633 (Church Pond Road)
(Update) Tuesday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Trench work will continue on Route 633 (Church Pond Road) northbound from just north of Route 658 (Brent Point Road) to Route 611 (Widewater Road). Motorists should expect brief delays in the work zone.

Routine Maintenance
Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:
Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) – mowing
Route 3 (Kings Highway) – shoulder work
Route 17 (Warrenton Road) – mowing
Route 655 (Holly Corner Road) – shoulder work
Route 218 (White Oak Road) – mowing
Route 604 (Belle Plains Road) – mowing, shoulder work
Route 607 (River Road) – brush cutting
Route 616 (Poplar Road) – mowing
Route 608 (Brooke Road) – potholes
Route 612 (Butler Road) – mowing
Route 648 (Rock Hill Road) – mowing
Route 631 (Coal Landing Road) – ditching
Route 630 (Joshua Road) – mowing
Route 648 (Stefaniga Road) – mowing
Route 1251 (Amherst Drive) – drainage work

Spotsylvania County
Interstate 95
(Update) Tuesday and Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will continue inspecting overhead signs on I-95 northbound and southbound between mile marker 117 located near Exit 118 (Route 606/Thornburg) and mile marker 131 located near Exit 130 (Route 3/Fredericksburg). There will be a single lane closure in this mobile work zone.

Traffic Signal Safety Inspections
(Update) Wednesday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Traffic signal structure inspections will continue this week at various intersections throughout the county to include the following areas. Motorists should expect brief delays in the work zone.

Route 628 (Smith Station Road)
Monday – Friday, Motorists should be alert to construction crews and equipment on Smith Station Road during daylight hours. This work is part of the Smith Station Road turn lanes and signal modification project.

Spotsylvania Avenue at Mine Road
(Update) Motorists should be alert to construction crews and equipment working along the median on Spotsylvania Avenue and in the vicinity of the Spotsylvania Avenue/Mine Road intersection. Expect lane closures and brief delays in this work zone on the following days:

Sunday – Wednesday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. and again from 6:30 p.m. – 6:30 a.m.
Thursday – Saturday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Routine Maintenance
Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities in the following locations:
Route 1 (Jefferson Davis Highway) – patching
Route 208 (Courthouse Road) – pipe installation
Route 633 (Church Pond Road) – tree trimming
Route 643 (Haleys Mill Road) – rural rustic preparation
Route 622 (Fairview Road) – ditching, pipe installation
Route 657 (Edenton Road) – pipe installation
Route 601 (Lawyers Road) – mowing
Route 1278 (Burman Lane) – drainage work
Route 1172 (Mint Leaf Lane) – pipe installation
Route 1299 (Twin Springs Drive) – pipe installation

Caroline County
Route 17
(Update) Tuesday − Saturday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Paving and line striping will continue on Route 17 northbound and southbound from just north of Route 301 to just south of Route 675 (Hazelwood Lane). Motorists should expect alternating lane closures in the work zone.

Routine Maintenance
Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will be performing routine maintenance activities in the following locations:

Route 652 (Meadow Farm Road) – mowing
Route 617 (Fortune Drive) – mowing
Route 648 (Sunshine Road) – patching
Route 618 (Alsop Road) – mowing
Route 610 (Pepmier Hill Road) – mowing
