The Menokin Foundation: Re-Imaging a Ruin
Honorary Menokin trustee and retired architectural historian for the Virginia Department of Historic Resources Calder Loth will speak about the Menokin Glass Project and its relevance and importance in the changing field of historic preservation. The lecture, exhibit opening, and reception in partnership with UMW Library and the Center for Historic Preservation will be held 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, at the University of Mary Washington Hurley Convergence Center Digital Auditorium on the Fredericksburg campus at 1301 College Ave. The event is free. The exhibit at UMW, which will be on display through December 18, 2016, features the 21st century engineering and technology being used to rehabilitate the 18th century structure on the Northern Neck.

Kickshaws Kitchen Opening September 26
Kickshaws Market owner Kathy Craddock will open Kickshaws Kitchen on Monday, Sept. 26, at 1002 Sophia St. in downtown Fredericksburg. The eatery will feature gluten-free, tree nut and peanut free breakfast and lunch items. Hours the first two weeks are 8 a.m. – 2 p.m. Monday through Saturday, Craddock said.

Spotsylvania Contractor Awarded $37.1 Million Government Contract
Spotsylvania-based Colonial Assembly and Design has been awarded a $37.1 million U.S. Navy contract for work that will support the Weapons Control and Integration Department at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division. Colonial Assembly and Design is a subsidiary of Zentech Manufacturing, Inc. of Baltimore.

Commercial Land Sale off Courthouse Road in Stafford
JPI – Fountain Park, LLC, has purchased 3.31 acres of land along 1284 Courthouse Rd. in Stafford from Village Enterprises. The $1.525 million sale was an investment, according to Berkley M. Mitchell and Michael E. Degen of Cushman & Wakefield | Thalhimer, who handled the sale negotiations on behalf of the seller.
