Fredericksburg Region Traffic Alerts Sept. 25 – Oct. 1

VDOT hot spots in Fredericksburg, Stafford, Spotsylvania, Caroline and King George September 25 – October 1, 2016.

I-95 Mobile Work Zones (Stafford County to Caroline County)
(New) Sunday – Thursday, 8 p.m. – 4 a.m. Crews will refresh the pavement markings on I-95 northbound and southbound. Work will begin on I-95 southbound at the Stafford County line and move southward to the Hanover County line and then continue on I-95 northbound beginning at the Caroline County line and move northward to the Prince William County line. Re-striping may take place on various on and off ramps along the corridor. Motorists should be alert to slow moving trucks and expect brief delays in the mobile work zone.

City of Fredericksburg
Interstate 95
(New) This week crews will be pouring concrete for the new bridge over I-95 at Fall Hill Avenue. Motorists will be restricted to one lane on I-95 in the work zone located at mile marker 131 on the following days:
Sunday – Two lanes closed on I-95 northbound from 10 p.m. Sunday until 4:30 a.m. Monday morning
Monday – Two lanes closed on I-95 southbound from 9:30 p.m. Monday until 5 a.m. Tuesday morning.

Fall Hill Avenue
(Update) Monday – Motorists should be prepared for a slight traffic shift near the entrance to Crestview Apartments. Flaggers will direct traffic through the work zone.

Monday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Fall Hill Avenue between Carl D. Silver Parkway and the Rappahannock Canal for construction activity. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Mary Washington Boulevard
Monday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures on Mary Washington Boulevard between Hospital Drive and Sam Perry Boulevard for construction activity. Flaggers will direct motorists through the work zone.

Princess Anne Street
Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. − 3 p.m. Paving work will continue on Princess Anne Street between Route 1 and Fauquier Street. This is a mobile work zone. Motorists may encounter single lane closures and brief detours in the work zone. Motorists should follow posted signs and direction from flagging crew. This project will be underway through mid-October. Additional work may occur outside the travel lanes on weekdays
7 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Spotsylvania County
Interstate 95
(New) Monday and Tuesday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Crews will inspect overhead signs on I-95 northbound and southbound between mile marker 117 and Exit 118 (Route 606/Thornburg). There will be a single lane closure in this mobile work zone.

Route 620 (Harrison Road)
Monday − Thursday, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. and Friday, 9 a.m. – noon. Motorists should expect intermittent flagging and single lane closures on Route 620 (Harrison Road). Motorists may periodically encounter brief delays in the overnight hours in this work zone. This work is in connection with the Route 1 and Harrison Road intersection improvement project.

Traffic Signal Safety Inspections
(Update) Wednesday – Friday, 9 p.m. – 5 a.m. Traffic signal structure inspections will continue this week at various intersections throughout the county to include the following areas. Motorists should expect brief delays in the work zone.

Route 3 at Andora Drive, Chewning Lane, Salem Church Road, Heatherstone Drive and Spotsylvania Crossing.

Route 1 at Olde Greenwich Drive, Harrison Road, Falcon Drive, Southpoint Parkway and Hudgins Road.

Route 2/17 at Thornton Rolling Road.

Spotsylvania Avenue at Mine Road
(New) Tuesday, 6:30 p.m. – 6 a.m. Milling will take place at the Spotsylvania Avenue/Mine Road intersection. Motorists should expect brief delays and a rough driving surface.

Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Motorists should be alert to construction crews and equipment working along the median on Spotsylvania Avenue and in the vicinity of the Spotsylvania Avenue/Mine Road intersection. Expect lane closures and brief delays in this work zone.

Routine Maintenance
Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities in the following locations:
Route 208 (Courthouse Road) – mowing
Route 618 (River Road) – mowing
Route 620 (Spotswood Furnace Road) – mowing
Route 610 (Ely Ford Road) – mowing
Route 612 (Stubbs Bridge Road) – mowing
Route 602 (Massey Road) – patching
Route 612 (West Catharpin Road) – mowing
Route 643 (Haleys Mill and Williams Lane) – Road Construction
Sheraton Hills Subdivision – tree trimming
River Downs Subdivision – tree trimming
Rain Tree Subdivision – patching
Spring Creek Subdivision – patching

Stafford County
Route 17
(Update) Monday – Thursday, 7 a.m. – 3 p.m. Motorists should expect intermittent turn lane closures on Route 17 northbound and southbound between McLane Drive and Stafford Lakes Parkway for traffic signal work.

Route 609 (Raven Road)
(New) On Monday Route 609 (Raven Road) will be closed to through traffic for a bridge replacement project over Accokeek Creek. Raven Road will be closed near the eastern intersection with Route 608 (Brooke Road).
Traffic will be detoured around the bridge project for an estimated four weeks, weather permitting. Motorists should follow posted detour signs along Raven Road and Brooke Road.

Route 610 (Garrisonville Road)
(Update) Sunday – Thursday. One lane will be closed intermittently on Route 610 eastbound and westbound at Onville Road from daylight to dusk and again from 8 p.m. – 5 a.m. in this work zone. Crews are placing sewer lines for the Route 610/Onville Road intersection improvement project.

Routine Maintenance
Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will perform routine maintenance activities at the following locations:
Route 3 (Kings Highway) – shoulder work
Route 17 (Warrenton Road) – mowing
Route 218 (White Oak Road) – mowing
Route 607 (River Road) – brush cutting
Route 607 (Butler Road) – mowing
Route 648 (Rock Hill Road) – mowing
Route 630 (Joshua Road) – mowing
Route 648 (Stefaniga Road) – mowing
Route 655 (Holly Corner) – shoulder work
Route 604 (Belle Plains Road) – mowing
Route 603 (Cassion Road) – shoulder work
Route 1251 (Amherst Drive) – drainage work

Caroline County
Route 17
(Update) Monday − Thursday, 7 a.m. – 7 p.m. Paving and line striping will continue on Route 17 northbound and southbound from just north of Route 301 to just south of Route 675 (Hazelwood Lane). Motorists should expect alternating lane closures in the work zone.

Routine Maintenance
Monday − Friday, 6 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Stay alert for mobile lane closures. Crews will be performing routine maintenance activities in the following locations:
Route 647 (Ashesville Road) – mowing
Route 614 (Ware Greek Road) – mowing
Route 627 (Mattoponi Trail Road) – mowing
Route 675 (Hazelwood Road) – mowing
Route 610 (Pepmier Hill Road) – tree trimming
Route 686 (Camden Road) – mowing

Caroline County/King George County
Route 301 at Rappahannock River
(New) Friday, 7 a.m. – 6:30 p.m. Motorists should expect a single lane closure on Route 301 northbound and southbound at the bridge over the Rappahannock River for work related to the bridge rehabilitation project. Expect brief delays on the bridge and at the bridge approaches.

King George County
Traffic Signal Safety Inspections
(New) Wednesday – Friday, 9 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Traffic signal structure inspections will take place this week at various intersections throughout the county to include the following areas. Motorists should expect brief delays in the work zone.

Route 3 at Route 603, the King George Parks and Recreation Office, The Shops at King George, Route 205, Route 207, Foxes Way South and Madison Drive North.

Route 301 at Route 614 and Route 3.
