The Germanna Community College (GCC) Local College Board will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5, to review the results of the Presidential Search Survey.

The survey is available at http://www.germanna.edu/presidents-office/presidential-search/

The October 5 meeting is open to the public. Those wishing to speak should sign-in by 9 a.m. The meeting will be held Conference Room 225 of Germanna’s Dickinson Building, 10000 Germanna Point Dr. in Spotsylvania.

Germanna Community College President Dr. David Sam announced in August that he will retire on June 30, 2017. Sam has led Germanna since 2007.

Glenn DuBois, Chancellor of the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) and GCC’s Local College Board are working together to hire a new president, Sam said. They hope to make a choice by March.

Since it’s traditional for a new president to choose his cabinet, several other GCC leadership positions are being filled on an interim basis, said GCC Public Information Officer Mike Zitz. They are:
– Dr. Jeanne Wesley, interim Vice President for Academic Affairs, while continuing as Vice President for Workforce & Community Education,
– Scott Kemp, interim Associate Vice President for Student Success.
– John Davis, interim Vice President for Administrative Services, while continuing as Executive Director of Organizational Planning and Assessment.
– David Sam, interim Vice President for Institutional Advancement and Executive Director of the Educational Foundation, while continuing as President.
