City Proposes Removal of Traffic Signals at Five Intersections

The City of Fredericksburg will hold two public meetings during October 2016 about the proposed removal of traffic signals at five intersections.

The five intersections are:
• Fall Hill Avenue/Germania Street
• Princess Anne Street/Canal Street
• William Street/Littlepage Street
• Hanover Street/Littlepage Street
• Hanover Street/Kenmore Avenue

The public meetings will be held:
– 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, at James Monroe High School, 2300 Washington Ave.
– 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13, in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 715 Princess Anne St.

The meetings will begin with a presentation summarizing a consulting engineer’s study of the traffic situations at each of the intersections, the reasons for the engineer’s recommendation that the signals be decommissioned, and alternate traffic control proposed. There will then be a question and answer session.
