Stafford resident Helen Wyckoff will open Bolts & Bows at 807 Caroline St. in downtown Fredericksburg on October 15, 2016.

The combination hardware store and gift shop will offer basic supplies for those living, working and visiting in the downtown area, including UMW students, Wyckoff said. She’s stocking, for example, cleaning, lawn and garden, grilling, plumbing, and electrical supplies. The store will also have a key-cutting station.

Her gift lines will include AngelStar, burton + Burton, the new Thompson’s Candles, and others.

“We’ll have a little bit of everything,” she said.

Wyckoff worked for 18 years as operations manager at Fischer Hardware in Springfield, Virginia, before she and her husband Tracy opened CK Home & Hardware in Bealeton, Virginia. They recently finished their sixth year, and signed another five-year lease for their 10,000 square-foot store in the Bealeton Village Shopping Center. The Fredericksburg store is much smaller.

Helen said she and her family have long frequented the shops and restaurants of Fredericksburg, and that’s what drew her to open a store here. “We love downtown,” she said.

Bolts & Bows will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 12 – 3 p.m. Sunday.

Wyckoff plans to sponsor special events, as she does at her Bealeton store, including do-it-yourself (DIY) classes.

Job applications are being accepted online.
