More than 60 downtown Fredericksburg businesses are participating in the “Scarecrows are Coming” competition, and you could win one of three $100 downtown gift cards for participating.

Pick up a ballot map to help you find all the scarecrows, then vote for your favorite in four categories: spookiest, funniest, best business theme, and historic.

Vote via the paper ballot, or online at Scarecrows 2016 Ballot. While you’re at it, look for the pinwheel placed on three scarecrow displays. That pinwheel indicates it’s a scarecrow with a question. The contestants who correctly answer the questions at all three locations on the official ballot, will be entered into a drawing to win one of three $100 downtown gift cards.

Ballots with a map are available at the Fredericksburg Visitor Center, 706 Caroline St., and at participating businesses. Ballots may also be downloaded from the ScarecrowFest page.

Ballots are due by October 31 to any location with a ballot box.

Participation in the contest is free. Share your pictures on social media with the hashtag #fxbgscarecrows

Gift card winners will be announced at 3 p.m. on November 4, and posted on the Fredericksburg Main Street website.
