Chamber to Honor 4 Local Legends

The Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce will honor four retiring business leaders at its third annual Local Legends Celebration of Service event on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016.

G. William “Billy” Beale, Ron Branscome, Karen Hedelt, and David Sam will be recognized during the 12 – 2 p.m. celebration at Jepson Alumni Executive Center, 1119 Hanover St. in Fredericksburg.

Billy Beale has served since 1991 as CEO of Union Bankshares Corp., the holding company for Union Bank & Trust. He will retire on January 2, 2017.

Rappahannock Area Community Services Board (RACSB) Executive Director Ron Branscome will retire June 30, 2017, after more than 30 years in the position. RACSB provides mental health, developmental disability, and substance abuse problems for residents in Planning District 16, which includes Fredericksburg, Caroline, King George, Spotsylvania, and Stafford,

Karen Hedelt retired from her position as director of Fredericksburg’s Department of Economic Development and Tourism on August 1, 2016.

After a decade as president of Germanna Community College, David Sam will retire on June 30, 2017.
