Downtown Fredericksburg Holiday Open House
Saturday, Nov. 12, and Sunday, Nov. 13, 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Open House Weekend is the official start of holiday shopping in Downtown Fredericksburg. Windows are decorated, holiday music is playing, good cheer and “ho ho ho” are in the air.
New this year: free gift-wrapping stations.
95.9 radio will be at corner of William and Caroline Streets, serving hot cocoa and cookies, and collecting items for donation to the Blue Star Mothers of Fredericksburg’s Holiday Care Packages.
Santa will be strolling in his toy maker outfit from 12 – 3:45 p.m. both days, along with other historic interpreters.
The Window Wonderland Riddle Contest begins.
Downtown parking is extended to four hours.

Sixth Annual Electroacoustic Barn Dance
November 10 – 12
University of Mary Washington, Fredericksburg campus, 1301 College Ave.
The Department of Music presents this three-day festival of electronic music and art, this year featuring percussionist Tony Steve, percussionist Adam Vidiksis, pianist Theresa Steward, and violinist Margaret Jones.

Museum of Valor Exhibit

The Spotsylvania-based Museum of Valor mounts a world-class exhibit of items selected from their extensive 15,000+ item inventory. This year’s theme is “1916: The World Loses Its Innocence,” in commemoration of World War I.

Quantico National Cemetery Veterans Day Ceremony
Friday, Nov. 11, 10:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Quantico National Cemetery Veterans Day Ceremony includes the Quantico Marine Corps Band at 10:30 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. ceremony with keynote speaker Gen. Robert B. Neller.

Create a boxwood tree centerpiece in eighteenth century fashion, using greenery and natural elements found on the grounds of Historic Kenmore and George Washington’s Ferry Farm. Also, capture the season on canvas, painting your very own 3”x 3” miniature painting, complete with an easel.

Tribute to Veterans

Spotsylvania County will host a Tribute to Veterans (link is external) from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, at Merchants Square Pavilion at Spotsylvania Courthouse Village, 9019 Old Battlefield Blvd. There will be speakers, WWII period music and performances, a WWII and Vietnam vehicle displays, music by Enduring Freedom Honor Team, food vendors, and a tribute wall on which visitors can post pictures they bring. There also will be a police escorted motorcycle ride from Indian Motorcycle of Fredericksburg to Spotsylvania Courthouse Village. Contact Indian Motors at 888-821-2440 for more information.
